After dealing with FedEx's virtual assistant for about 10 days, I finally waited on the phone to speak with a human. FedEx agent told me that my tracking number didn't belong to me - end of conversation. No further resolution or explanation of what happened to the package FedEx lost (it was a pair of NOS vintage Time Mag Ti pedals for a titanium bike I am restoring - not easily replaced, I'd been searching for months).
Fortunately the seller issued a refund... I will never again voluntarily use FedEx (can't control which carrier a seller chooses).
To bring this rant back on point, I also ordered 2 items from MDS. Received a "credit memo" on one item & thought "what the hell is this" - not understanding that it was their way of saying they were out of stock and issuing a refund. Once I figured it out, I shot off an email canceling my whole order because I wasn't about to pay their $10.80 shipping for a single pair of pliers. Fortunately, the other pair of pliers arrived on my porch the next day. Turns out the "credit memo" refunded the shipping charge as well, so I ended up getting the Knipex wire rope cutters for $23 with free shipping. Only wish I'd found out about the sale earlier...
