So I have been keeping my eye on the Knipex pliers in the electrical dept at my local lowes. In November I noticed they had a combo pack of both the 7&10" cobras. at the first of November it was $56.94. So I asked for a few Lowes gift cards from santa to get the pair or maybe some other Knipex stuff.

I went out to Lowes on a whim today and was I shocked. They had them marked down to $29.97 for the combo pack. The single 10" pair hanging next to it is marked $31.99. I'm not sure how much I'll really use them but I went for it. I really like the design and hope the function as good as they look.

I'm not sure if it's nation wide or not, I am in St. Louis Missouri. They had at least 6 or 7 more sets. If someone wants one and it isn't marked down in your store I would pick a set up and mail them to ya. provided you have paypal and are in the US

Nice of you to let us know but I picked that set up a couple days ago after using a $10 off $25 lowes coupon so I got them for about $21 something including tax. You can order them from lowes.com and select to pick them up in-store. It seems to be nationwide.

When I add them to my cart the price goes up by $10. I'll check the store tomorrow.

Maybe they realized the deal was too good and are jacking up the price again soon. Haha, maybe they are trying to pull an amazon.com trick and lure people in...

It might just be a glitch on the website...there are about 5 lowes stores within 30 minutes of my house and all of them appear to have some in stock according to the website but when I go to check-out it says they are not available at that store. I'd give it a few days and try again, or go in to the local store and have them do a price-check on the item for you. It should come up at $29.99 or something like that.

I picked up a set today. One Lowes was still $39 but the other was $29. Used a Home Depot movers coupon for another 10%.

They do function as good as they look and that's one hell of a deal. I thought it was a good deal already but $29 is practically giving them away. If I didn't already have these, I'd be out the door to scour the local Lowe's for them. Anyone that's interested shouldn't pass these up, that's a screaming deal.

Yep.. picked a set up the other day with a $10 off $25 coupon I had. I already have a set...but for $20, i figured it'd be nice as a spare set! I LOVE these pliers.

Just picked up my order tonight. Sweet! "Made in Germany" plastered all over the blister pack.

picked mine up as well. no internet preorder, just walked in and found them - seems strange to me they are in the electrical tools area. they were NOT marked at the $29 price (still showing $59 i think), but i walked the pack up to customer service and had them price check it; $29 it is, so bought a set. tempted to buy another for the trailer, but afraid they would walk...

I am glad you all let me know that the price dropped again. I bought them for 39 on Dec 4. Just took my receipt in and got $10 back, which I promptly put down on a pair of channellock needle nose.

Thanks for the heads up. I had to go to Lowe's to pick up some other items and checked it out. They were on the shelf tagged at $29.**, so I picked up a set.

Thanks - David

Went by this morning and picked up a set. This is a "new lower price" so no need to mess around with online store pickup trickery.

One must wonder how Lowes squeezed them to get the price down so much lower, but the quality of the pliers is exact same as before.

I got the last set from my local Lowes today. It showed it as a sale price on the tag.

What a deal though, the 10" by themselves list at $29, so I essentially got the 7" for free!

they were 39.99 at my lowes. I found the store manager and told her I saw them for 29.** online. she pulled up the lowes webpage and then gave me the discount. its a great deal. I have been looking at them for a while and just could not swing almost 60 bucks for 2 pairs of pliers... cant wait to use them.

I checked out a local Lowe's and have to say I was a bit disappointed in the quality of these overall. I think they're a good deal, but I don't know how much of one... several of the sets had oddly molded jaws (the teeth were nearly flat on a few) and many of the sets had lots of lateral play such that the jaw heads wouldn't line up properly. Out of 7 or 8 sets I only saw a couple which I thought were manufactured up to par, and they weren't without blemishes. Maybe this store just had a bad batch, but I sort of expected more consistency from Knipex.

I have a set of the Channellock Griplock pliers which I picked up from Northern for $25 (3 sizes, 6, 10, 12), and they have a similar jaw design. Apart form the lock on the Cobras and finer selection ability, are they that much different when it comes to use?

I do like the heft and feel of these and will probably stop by another Lowe's to find a nice pair and test my luck with the 20% HF coupon.

haha. There is nothing like a Cobra. Nothing. The Cobra teeth will bite things that those Channellocks will not touch. I have tested the two side by side removing a heat trap ****** (couldn't use a pipe wrench because it essentially was a close ****** if you follow) and the Knipex allowed me to take it out and install the new one. The Channellock could not do that.
