Picked up a little brochure on Kobalt "Sockets for life" program - what a sucky program .........

First off they need your name, address, socket set #& reference number off your receipt to set up an account.

Here's the good part: if you have a "lost, missing, or misplaced socket", you can log into your account, you can select the missing sockets, and place your order, (also have an 800 number), and they will be shipped to you.

Here's the sucky part: "Shipping and handling charges do apply..." & "Shipping and handling charge is per socket".
So far, ehh... but, the charge per socket: $4.95 for 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2 sockets. $5.95 impact sockets, $6.95 3/4 drive sockets.

Cheaper for many of the sockets to just buy them individually at the store. Order two or three sockets from a set and it's cheaper to buy the whole set.

Now why would anyone do anything else? Or did I miss something?

Been covered.. most people wouldn't do it. But if you live in bfe with a Lowes that's that's more then $6 in fuel away from you, and you rarely go that direction, it could.almost be worth it. Almost.

You missed nothing.

If anyone has actually signed up for this they're the type of people that
probably shouldn't be using tools in the first place. I also wonder if they
have created a **** storm for themselves by people signing up for this
then going to their local shop and saying that they've lost a rail full of
sockets and they would like 12 new ones please.

I feel sorry for the people that have to work there and explain that
it's post only, stand there and argue the toss about it for an hour
then stand there and argue the toss for another hour about why the
12 sockets couldn't just be placed in a flat rate postage box.

What a complete and utter piece of stupidity at work. Whoever
dreamed up the idea needs a good effin slap... Stupid stupid.
