I will be doing the same soon, so I am interested too.
I was thinking of using hard plastic or nylon pry tools and a hammer and tap the trim off. I don't know if this is the best technique, but it is the best I could come up with.

you have to slide it off the end
its a pain to do without damaging
get wood, aluminum, or other soft material and put a slot in it
put it on the end and keep beating on it till it comes off

I did that on my box

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51252

The trim has a fold on the inside lip that fits into a step in the box. Take a pick and pry the inside lip towards the center of the box, just a 16th of an inch should do. Leave that pick in there and take another one and slide it along the inside edge until the trim is off of that ledge. If that does not work, tap the trim from one end to slide it off. The second method works but has a much greater chance of damaging the trim.

I hope that it makes sense, I did not take pics as I was doing that on my box.

real question is how do you reinstall the trim with out scratching the paint? That's what really has me considering leaving it off.

Shaun: do you know about the drawer trim for the 557? Is it still available?

I just found out that the drawer trim for the long drawers on the 537 is still available, but not for the small drawers.

What's the hardware package? The fasteners?

I assume channel track is self-explanatory. It's good that this is available because I can straighten one of the channels and that's impeding the first drawer.

Putting it on is super easy. Line it up in the position that it needs to be and push it on. Make sure that the lip of the trim clicks into the slot on the box.

but does it scrape up the paint on the way on? and what about something thicker like if i decide to powder coat it?

Powder coating will be very strong, it should not damage that. If you use a soft primer surfacer, it may scratch but only if you have irregularities in the stainless that cause one part to dig in to the paint.
