Did Craftsman ever make 1/2" drive sockets large than 1-1/4" ? I would like to fill out my collection to that size.

Any other brands have 1/2" drive, 1-3/8" and 1-1/2", sockets ?

Those are pretty big sizes for 1/2" drive.

Usually when you get into socket sizes that large, you are talking impact sockets, and that means 3/4" drive impact wrench. Used mostly by medium/heavy duty truck mechanics. Light duty guys won't usually have stuff that big, except for cv axle nuts.

Any professional tool brand will carry those sizes for you.

Last time I went to SEARS to buy a 1-1/2" shallow socket they did not have one. I had to buy a duralast socket from AutoZone. It was an emergency. Anything over 1-1/4" or 24mm I have either Snap On or SK.

The largest SAE I have is 1-1/4" but I also have a 36mm which was bought around 2005.

My Craftsman 1/2" drive sockets go up to 1 1/2". My original set I bought in 1971 went only to 1".
I added a set of the 1"- 1 1/2" ones later from Sears.

They are really too large for 1/2" drive wrenches if you have heavy duty work. At those sizes, 3/4" drive is much better.

Normally the stores stock up to 1 1/4". I think there is a 1 5/16, then it skips to 1 1/2" I think that one has to be ordered, but I know they offer it.

I own a 1 1/4", 32 and 36mm Craftsman half inch drive. Bought in the 70s. 36 was a VW flywheel nut, I think. Took something like 200 ft/lbs. That socket never blinked with a long cheater or a borrowed impact even at that high torque.

I've got deep 1/2" drive chrome sockets in my box up to 1-1/2 inch. The 1-1/2 is a Thorsen that I bought to replace a lost Snap-on. The 1-7/16, 1-3/8, etc are Snap-on that I've owned for thirty years.

Metric, I have 30, 31, 32, 34, and 36mm as the largest 1/2" sockets.

Like another poster mentioned, usually when messing with something that size, unless I have clearance issues, I grab 3/4" drive chrome or impact stuff, as required.

Highest sized in metric I use is 36mm,I use this size socket for most GM axle nuts.I know Mac and Snap On go up to 1 9/16 in 1/2 drive impact sockets.1 5/16 is used a lot on the nut holding pitman arms in place.

Interesting. I don't think that I've ever even seen an 1-9/16 nut or bolt before. I'd have to dig, but I don't think that I even own a wrench or socket in that size. Either side or it, 1-1/2 and 1-5/8 sure, they're common, but 1-9/16. That's got to be a ******* size. There must be a demand though if they make the sockets.

You've really got me wondering now, I need to dig into my "stuff I either never or hardly ever use" boxes. :)

my 3/8 drive go up to 1"

1/2 goes up to 1-1/4, then axle sockets.

i have no 3/4 drive stuff, but only do cars and light trucks, and the occasional small engine.

Proto also has them in either 6 or 12 pt in 16'ths up to 1-1/2"

i.e J5446 = 1-7/16; J5448 = 1-1/2" in 12 pt. (Last two digits are the size in 32ths)

An "H" suffix gets you six pt (H for Hex) so: J5446H = 1-7/16; J5448H = 1-1/2" in 6 pt.

Edit: And a B Suffix gets you impacts: J5446B = 1-7/16; J5448B = 1-1/2" in 12 pt. impact.

Darn you GJ !

Before starting to hang out here I NEVER would have bought a tool that I didn't have an immediate need for let alone one that I will likely NEVER use !

The one on the far right is a Craftsman 1" for reference.

I have only seen a Craftsman 1-1/2" socket in a set. Never on the rack as a single socket. I would get a SK socket 1-1/2".

In Craftsman 1/2" drive the biggest I have is 1 1/2" and 36 mm. After that, you really need to be in 3/4" drive stuff. All my 3/4" drive stuff is tool truck stuff. Biggest I have there is 2 7/8" and also a 54 mm for my toyota.
