large box top

im in the proscess of buying a 58" cornwell box and would like to put a top on it. i have a very large section of butcher block laying around, have any of you guys made your own top of any kid? pics would be great. thanks

I've seen some SO boxes that have bolts through the top of the box and into threaded inserts in the work surface.

so you just remove the top drawer and bolt upwards? butcher block looks like the cheapest option to me.

i put a piece of aluminum diamond plate and a piece of plexie glass on top of that on my box

oh that sounds cool. IKEA has a big piece of block for 50$, might look ino that. diamond plate sounds cool

That's what I did with my Snap-on roller cabinet. I used a piece of plywood I had sitting around, cut to fit, with a piece of tempered hardboard screwed on top of that. It's very durable, and when it does get too beat up I can easily replace the hardboard with a new piece.

that seems like the plan, im gonna go with a cheaper piece of wood and bolt it up from underneeth with some washers. did you finish your top?
