Updates? This is the most exciting tool I can imagine, so it seems weird that only one guy on the forum bought one and there's no more news.

And how about the prices on Aliexpress? They're coming down... Are these legit? If I could TRUST that a working machine would actually show up, I would buy one for a grand.

There’s a new video on YouTube where Brent ( forgot his channel name, but he’s guy from Canada who’s shop burned last fall) bought one.

Pretty good, honest, unbiased review showing its rust removal capabilities. He hasn’t tried welding with it yet.

He was obviously having fun, but said sandblasting is probably cheaper and faster, but there’s no mess with the laser . Got his on Amazon, for I think around $8k. At that price they are starting to become affordable for the hobbiest. He blasted his burned up brake, some of his project Advanced Design pickup, and a home made pipe brake.

That's the video I linked to in the other thread about laser cleaning machines. It's what reminded me how bad I wish I had one of these.

Sandblasting is definitely cheaper - but faster? Maybe if we're talking about a sandblasting cabinet for small parts. Consider what Brent was lasering in that video though. You'd have to have a sandblasting booth that fit a car. Even if you already have a shop, that could end up a bit more spendy than $8000.

I was thinking how nice it would be to take the bed off my pickup and clean up the frame. If I do that with a sandblaster I'll need a pretty substantial unit. Then, unless I'm cool with glass beads all over my driveway, I'll need some sort of enclosure. Dust and debris will be everywhere, Maybe I set up one of those temporary garage shelters and put a tarp underneath? Doable - but it would be faster to wheel out my laser and slap on some sweet shades.

His point in favor of the laser is that he doesn’t want to sand blast in the shop, and being in the climate he is in, blasting outside isn’t the greatest fun.

Sorry I didn’t click your link. I gave up doing that since so many links are dead ends.

If the price drops a little more, I’m in. I have had good luck with my Chinese Primeweld machine. It’s as good, considering the price, an my Miller or HTP machine.

My first Plasma TV, first VCR, first Microwave, first cell phone and a dozen other things were pretty speedy when I bought them as new technologies, but the price and quality improved with mass adoption and off shore production. I’m targeting next year for a laser. There should be some understanding of who the winners are by then.

edit: I missed your post with Brett’s video because I didn’t see the new thread you generated today!
