latex gloves

at work i have gotten so used to wearing the diamond brand gloves that at home i do not want to get dirtyhands...
found some gloves at harbor frieght in a white/red box for 3.99 with coupon .
which is 50% off retail , anyway does anyone have these? will they all tear as i try to put them on?
i figure to give em a try for the price.....
i know a few will most likely tear ....ok but hope they dont all do that

I have had bad experiences with the tight latex gloves, like what surgeons wear. The don't allow any ventilation, so after a while of wrenching, it's like a hot soupy sweat-bowl inside. Not ok!

Not sure of the box color but I buy the blue nitrile gloves from HF all the time, they work great but as Bull said, you will get sweaty hands, no way around that with that type of glove as far as I know.

I bought two boxes of HF gloves, cheap plain latex and expensive dual layer latex inside and nitrile outside. Plain latex tears really easily, and many auto related fluids eat it quickly or make it fall apart.

Quick jobs I use the latex, long jobs the Nitrile dual layer.

BUT

I'm not buying anymore from HF. I got a sample pack from this thread of Microflex and those were MUCH better and longer lasting.

The HF gloves hoover. They are the stiffest gloves I've tried and tear really easily. I gave them a FAIL in the HF thread and I suspect the people who gave them a pass haven't tried other gloves to see how much better a real glove is.

Goto Sam's Club or Costco and get nitrile gloves there. They're both good gloves and about the same price as HF. I've also seen latex on the shelf but don't use latex gloves anymore; my wife & I developed a latex allergy at about the same time...

If you want to try out gloves, ask your dentist/hygenist for a few pair to try next time you're in for a cleaning/work/whatever. They should be happy to give you a few pair. I had mine ordering me gloves back when I lived in MI.

I use the HF blue nitrile gloves all the time at work. They are definitely light years beyond even "high quality" latex gloves, and you can catch them on sale at HF for 5.99 a box or something close. I have also used the kirkland brand nitrile gloves at costco. While the kirkland gloves are better and seem to last slightly longer, I prefer the HF. They are cheaper, so when I am at work and a customer walks in, I can pull them off and toss them and not feel quite as bad about it.

On the other hand, I have been able to get through the day with two pairs of these things... one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and just wash them as If I was washing my hands. I think they are a good alternative to latex gloves and not overly expensive.

The HF thick latex chemical gloves are awesome. They come 50 in a box and stand up really well to heavy, nasty work.

National Health Service in the UK has banned latex gloves because of alergies and other skin complaints.
Nitrile only now.
Of course, this has led to latex glove packs turning up in all the cheap shops and a lot of mechanics with skin complaints these days.

Good that that came up. I found the free sample link on the Microflex site a couple of months ago and ordered some. Tried them but didn't get around to ordering any until two days ago... I was going to post about that but I'm not surprised Stuey beat me to it

I decided on the Microflex Nitron One and ordered two boxes. Fairly thick but you still have a good amount of feel and are textured. The MidKnight ones are nice, too, but have one problem: you can't tell if they are all geasy and nasty...

As for Latex, they rip too easily. I'd go with Nitrile gloves.

I prefer Kimberly Clark nitriles. I also use Microflex blue latex gloves, I'm not sure what their style type is, maybe Safegrip, and those feel great as well.

Don't bother with cheap gloves, they're nothing but frustration. Go with Microflex Diamond Grip or SafeGrip.

I use the HF red/white box gloves for quick jobs. The first box were a bit small but worked. After they were open for awhile and I hadn't used them, the ones on top were very easy to rip. I threw away a bunch of them and now keep them in a big ziplock bag. I also bought a bigger size that go on a lot easier.

I wouldn't want to wear them for long periods of time but they are great for really dirty/mess jobs. I especially like them for painting.

I have had them melt and fall apart with certain chemicals.

I have those HF gloves and I use them mainly to change the oil. Works fine.

What I like best about the gloves is that a few seconds with a shop towel will clean just about anything off the gloves so I can do a dirty job, wipe my hands, and move on to something clean.

*** NOTE Gorilla tape and gloves don't mix.

The HF is easier to tear and doesn't last as long as the Microflex, but the HF is also just cheap with lumps from the manufacturing process. Very annoying if a lump ends up in a finger spot so you feel it all the time.

Anyone use the snap on double tough gloves?. For 13 bucks a box they are light years ahead of any other gloves I have used.

I love the powdered latex gloves we have at work. I use a fresh pair for every oil change. Really helps keep me clean, especially since I do a lot of interior trim work as well.

I used to hate the blue nitrile, but lately have been liking them for larger jobs. For really big lube jobs I have a set of thick black nitrile gauntlets I got from Home Depot. Those I wash after I'm done, and they hold up well. I used them all the time when I did parts washing.
