You need enough space to provide the makeup air for when that dryer is set to high and cranking away. Inevitably, the door is going to get closed with the dryer running. Probably on purpose to cut the noise. Likewise, somebody is also going to pile linens in front of the door for the next load and the dryer will not be able to get adequate air. That will lead to looooooong dry times and premature wear out of parts. That is why I strongly favor the louvered doors. You most often see laundry closets done with bifold doors in my experience, which don't even seal against anything when closed, so they allow adequate ventilation even closed. Not even sure putting a solid door on there would be technically to code. Dryers are the #1 cause of house fires and this looks to be a really bad idea in my opinion.
