We built a 2400 sq ft steel building back in 2004 to hold all our vehicles and to be a workshop. My wife (now a retired airline pilot) over the years developed a huge collection of Lego’s. It took it a pretty big corner of the workshop. We had always wanted to build a guest house on the property. Since the county assessors treats all steel buildings like they are storage spaces (they can’t legally come on the property to inspect them), we decided to combine the projects and build a multi use steel building. 2400 sq ft, but this one is 30 by 80. Three sides with stick framing. The back 8 feet is now an empty corridor but we hope to one day make it an indoor shooting range. The interior came out way better than we had hoped. We bought some of those Casper mattresses for the bunk room and they are amazing.
My wife came up with the nickname of the Long Barracks (from the Alamo) as opposed to the other building which we call the shop.
Interestingly enough, the power bill only costs about $40 per month with the AC blasting away this summer.
