This box landed in my lap today K-8? K-80? any difference between the two? Sockets list from last weeks finds and are closer in age and will reside in the K.
I'll probably give it a evaporust bath at some point.I‘ve had some luck with a rusty tray like that pouring a couple of inches of evaporust in and leaving it to work overnight. There will still be some pitting but at least the rust will be minimized. I like the box!

Yeah I dont know what they used. I'll try to chip away at it with a few different levels of chemicals just to see if I have any luck. Hopefully whoever did it wasn't real zealous in their prep work so maybe it can be removed?Did they use orange paint (where all my neighbors just use real rust) for patina?
cotter pin puller, late 30s. shows in the 38 cat pg. 61. would be a blue point tool due to the date code.
They are both made for Ford connecting rods part number S-9001The "Non Repl" one should have a thinner wall at the opening. For Ford connecting rod nuts.
Either SO had too many warranty claims and added the "Non-Repl" wording, or they decided to warranty them after finding that they held up well enough. Either way, a change during production. They are both made for Ford connecting rods part number S-9001

Those are sweet! Let me know if you want to part with any. I could definitely use some to finish a setI went to a fairly local mid week car boot sale this morning. The very first table that I looked at had all of the following vintage snap-on items.
9/32" Drive.
MC9 9/32" 12pt 1942 date coded.
MC10 5/16" 12pt 1942 date coded.
MC13 13/32" 12pt 1942 date coded.
SM12 3/8" 6pt no date code.
SM14 7/16" 6pt 1942 date coded.
MC36 Not Guar. no Snap-on or date code.
MC37 no date code.
MC38 no date code.
MC44 Not Guar. no Snap-on or date code.
MC45 Not Guar. no Snap-on or date code.
3/8" Drive.
S-8655-A 1945 date code.
F-240 3/4" 12pt.
Two non Snap-on interlopers.
3/8" drive 40620 no other markings 3/4" 12pt swivel socket. Seems to be made by SK as the part number matches.
King **** 9/32" drive 2" extension.
All of the above are in WW2 cad. plate. All show little or no signs of actual use.
All of the Snap-on seem to be carburetor related. I assume that all came to the UK during the Lease Lend WW2 period.
Sometimes that site is wrong.

Sweet!
