I received a little gift in the mail today from bmwrd0. It is a tiny 9/32” drive screwdriver bit that has been missing from my mostly 1942 9/32” drive set. I had almost given up on completing the set.

I picked up a 1in drive Snap-On Torqometer in a hefty steel box today from the flea. Bout wore my arm off trying to carry that thing around! Came with a Williams 1in to 3/4" adaptor and 3/4" to 1/2" adaptor. I left them in the pic for scale. This thing is massive!

I found two Snap-on pieces today. One is a floppy 1/2” drive early u-joint only marked Snap-on with no part number or date code. The Ferret screwdriver bit isn’t marked Snap-On but it clearly is.

I found this S-9540A windshield wiper drive nut socket on Thursday. It fits 1955-58 Chevrolet and Pontiac.

I picked up 2 Snap-on hand boxes today.
First one is older, looks like it was supposed to have a tray (long gone). Came with a bunch of rusty random tools.

2nd box is a 1972 KRA-280 painted green but overall good shape.

I don’t see any markings on these two 9/32dr square sockets, but they resemble the early SO ones in 1/2dr I’ve seen. The sliding Tee is stuck, and the drive looks like it was forced into a too-small socket. I suspect it was 9/32dr at birth, but had a run-in with the mother of invention.
Edit - here are two hex sockets I forgot to include.

As posted on the Garage Sale thread, these are my Snap-on finds from the Tahoe flea this morning. I like the vacuum grip cutters and the V flare nut wrenches.

I finally got a chance to take some pictures of the early vacuum grip dykes. I’m not sure when they were made.

Don, you probably already know, but for interested parties, here’s my exercise in deduction:
Forged Steel Products was founded in Newark NJ in 1920. In 1922, the company moved to Newport PA. Around 1945-6, the Snap-on name replaced Forged Steel Products on tools, and in 1958 production moved out of Newport. So 1923-45, probably. Since the 1921 dimpled grip design patent date was frequently stamped on products, maybe further reduced to 1928-45? The way the cutting area is milled (from your earlier post) inclines me to guess early 1930s?
Without a date code stamp (anything on the inside of the handles?), it’s just a guess.
Does it have a model number?

LS,
Thanks for that information. I wasn’t aware of the exact timeline. I didn’t see any obvious additional markings but I will double check later today. I have some larger ones with the Snap-on markings on the inside of the handles.

About 35 years ago I picked up some sockets in an estate deal. I recently dug them out to share them. Among them were these Snap-On items:

No. 9001 21/32" Ford connecting rod socket. 1929
screwdriver socket 1/2 drive. Logo matches the other sockets. No numbers.
SW-160 1/2" 12-point socket. 1932
SW-200 5/8" 12-point socket. 1932
SW-250 25/32" 12-point socket. 1932
F30 clutch driver
TM30 clutch driver
TM27 clutch driver

They mostly show up in early-mid 50s wrenches. Some are much bolder. Notice too, they have the / instead of the - dash, odd for 50s tools.

I found this box empty at the flea recently and threw some 1/4” drive tools in it. I’m curious about the age of the box and what might have originally come in it?

The puller is a battery terminal puller. The other items are adjustable reamers. Used for fitting bushings after installation as in king pins and spring shackles.

Are those Type 87? I have a pair similar to those except only 2 rows of suction cones running down the side. I think mine are early as they have no markings on the head of the tool, all markings are on the inside of the handles opposite of the suction cones. I haven't found any date codes yet, any suggestions of where they might be?

Keep in mind that until 1931, when Forged Steel Products was formally merged with Snap-on, they were still selling their own pliers under their own brand name (Vacuum-Grip) in addition to supplying Snap-on with pliers that Snap-on sold with the same brand name. Those pliers look like straight up FSP Vacuum-Grips to me.
