Early 40s k55. Looks like nice shape. Seem to go 75$ to 200$ around here. They were available in red as well.

The pliers are wonky for sure. But another huge anomaly that needs caveating is Ferret tools. Some of the late wartime Ferret handles have the leaning/italic logo. My hunch is that was the first line they started converting the dies on.
Here is a set, 52-54. That font mostly shows up early 50s.
49-50 was a big change year for s/o lots of model changes, also The Blue Point name on wrenches, hammers start to be changed to the Snap on name, so it would not surprise me that the Ferret name would be gone too.
Thank you for replying to my questions, snapmom, and thank you for posting a pic of your wrenches. I enjoy seeing images of your SO collection.
I have a question for you. Have you seen other Snap On tools with a logo similar to the one found on my 1955 Snap On XS-1618 offset box end wrench?

Is that an eBay photo? The background is very familiar looking to me.

Yes, but not many. Some refer to it as the Alien logo.
Thanks, I wondered. For some reason, that seller has many names on eBay. That is an unusual logo. I’ve never seen one before. Good find!

I don't think it is snapon

I was curious to see if any of the tools in my Ferret set had the newer logo. I checked today and found that the speeder has the newer markings along with a G stamp. You have referenced a "leaning/italic" logo. Recently I purchased a few Snap On Ferret tools that have an interesting "joined cursive" logo that I have seen only on a few Snap On Tools with 1947 and 1948 date codes, including the following: a 1947 F4L Speeder, a 1948 F4L Speeder, a 1948 FU8 Universal Swivel, and a 1948 F-181 3/8 9/16 shallow socket. I would like to know if this logo was used by Snap On before or after 1947-1948. Do any of you GJ members know?
By the way, the "newest" SO tool I have seen that has the word "FERRET" on it was manufactured in 1948. I have attached an image of the manufacturer's markings on the tool, an F4L Speeder, below. Do any of you GJ members know if SO put the word "FERRET" on any tools after 1948?
