Not sure the vintage of this but here it goes. I think it's industrial 7/8" hex with 1-1/16" socket. The socket is stamped twice.IMG_20210427_205941724.jpg

Not sure about the age of this one - had it for a while and just cleaned it up and used it (cuts well!). Came from the load where majority of SO were from late 50s (could not find a date code on this one)...

A odd rat, probably military. Was labeled as landing gear ratchet and was in a box of aircraft tools. The rat has no model number or snap on name, has a 1967 date code is 1/2" drive. . one side of the rat is normal and the other side has a unmarked spline socket attached with a roll pin. the handle is 18" has the snap on name and model number LH100, also has what looks like a order number 697308-1. the other side has a no name spline wrench.

Here it is. A bit of an oddball for a brass tag set.

I cleaned up some recent acquisitions. I wasn’t optimistic about the rusty large groove joint pliers but they didn’t come out too bad. Plenty of work for the 3M rotary disc.

5/8 12 point socket from 1941. Very cool find today. It was from an Estate Sale I got a few other wartime things from different brands like Craftsman and others too. This is now the oldest Snap-on tool that I have.

Mine is a different color. Like a blue-green. these date 25-26

This is interesting to me. I’m surprised it has the early small 1/2d handle (that’s not in any catalogs) but a later version of the ratcheting adapter. I bid on one of those handles the other day but got above my pay grade unfortunately. Only time I’ve seen one on eBay, personally.
Edit; sorry, wrong handle. Anyone have much info about the handle I have this pic of? I think Snapmom told me about it awhile ago but I can’t find that thread.

Those were 21 to 22 or so. Earlier ones had pinch stops for the sockets. I think I have that version snapmom probably has earlier ones as well. Surprised it brought that kind of $. Someone wanted it.

Thanks Otg and snapmom (again)
Yeah I was prepared to go about 1/3 of that. It seems vintage prices are rising again. Not sure what drives that. I see it in 60s and 70s stereo equipment as well, but I figured that was from nostalgia. With 100 year old tools? I’m guessing just lack of availability.

3 variations, and still didn’t make an appearance in a catalog...

If you don't already know it, that patent date refers to patent D57,252, which Bill Myers owned. He was the president of FSP, and later, after FSP bailed Snap-on out of financial trouble, of Snap-on. It is the design patent for the suction cups grip!
You are correct, sir. And the D57,252 design patent probably should not have issued. It has utility--it aids in gripping the tool. Design patents are not supposed to have utility. They should be purely ornamental. (btw, I used to be a patent examiner many moons ago. lol)

B1601. not listed in the cats.
When you first look at these, you think they were made in the 20s or early 30s. But I think they are war era. One has US QMC stamp. One has H-160-E, Made in USA stamped in both heads. the model number starting with a B is usually some type of brake tool. Made in USA usually shows up in post 37 tools. The E at the end of the 160 maybe a 1944 code. One of them has no model number, just Snap on on the heads.
Any help would be appreciated. All have 1/2 openings on each end.

Very interesting, snapmom. I agree, they have an antique, welded era so-called "hammerhead" look with the construction and the offsets, but your dating analysis is very solid. LOVE the US QMC stamp. I will scour my manuals and other references.

Without knowing anything specific, it seems to me that in keeping up with wartime demand, many manufacturers would have brought previously retired equipment back online. That might account for the old-timey look. Or maybe they utilized old stock items to make specialized tools.
When I was a teen, I worked part-time maintenance at a small rural hospital with three boilers. The oldest one hadn’t been fired up in decades, and everyone assumed it was dead. But then its capacity was needed. The watchfulness of the guy who kept them running, as he brought it back to life, made a deep impression on me.

Picked this Snap On KC 545 today. It’s a bit rough but I have a purpose for the box, the larger drawers was what attracted me. Found on FB Marketplace...ive done a search including "Collecting SnapON" and cannot find year of manufacture??? The tag is not ledgible

I found this cool little 9/32 female to 1/4 male adapter the other day. Now I can use my 9/32 Snap-on drive tools with any 1/4 inch stuff that I have laying around.

Thanks guys. I’m not sure exactly what’s missing. A handle and a ratchet for sure. Anyone have a complete example for me to copy?
I have a bunch of extra things in mine, dan, so it wouldn't do you much good. If you want to see the catalog view, go to collectingsnapon.com. 1941. Page 5. Set No. 58. You are missing the T-handle, rat and spinner. That long extension is extra. As is the hinge handle, believe it or not. 10 sockets. 3/16" to 7/16" 6-points, although I have seen 12-pointers. 1/4" and 5/16" 8-points.

I have an extra T handle for your set. I'm sure it will do you much more good than it will do me. Besides, I have a complete set already. All yours if you'd like to have it. No charge of course. ;)
