I am slowly gathering a collection of chainsaws, and like my vise addiction, or my hammer addiction, or my gun addiction, I have become obsessed with looking at them, learning about them, repairing them, and searching local ads for them, etc. And when you have lots of them, you also have to store them. Last night I upgraded my saw tree because of my recent yard sale scores on chainsaws.

*I have posted this on another forum, so if you have already seen it, we apparently share a common interest as well*

So this is what I am currently working with. It has 14 saws in it currently, with room for 1 more.

I did a search and have seen lots of threads on chainsaws, but nothing about showing off your chainsaws, so let's see them.

Wow! Most of the saw collections I've sawn are guys collecting old saws many of which don't run. Yours will be worth a fortune in 50 years if you keep them tuned and running.
I like your display idea with the tree. You should put short sides on the base and fill it with bark mulch. It looks like eventually the chain oil will start to collect there.

I dont collect them i just burn wood. The ms460/046 is new to me this year. One hell of a firewood bucking machine.

I also have a ms193t thats perfect for cutting trails or one handed operation. Each has there good use.

Yeah, I never intended to be a saw collector, and really prefer the new saws to the old ones, but if you get a deal you can't pass up, then you wind up with a bunch like me. 5 of these saws came from an estate sale for $12 total. It's hard not to buy them at that price.

Also, the oil you see running down is from oil I squirt in each slot to prevent the bars from rusting. 12 of the 14 saws are currently in running condition, I do need to go through and drain the fuel and run them dry for longer term storage though.

I might have to try your idea with the mulch.

I only have one right now. It's a MS290 with 20" bar 3/8 pitch yellow link. It's due for a new bar again along with sprocket and some chains.

I've got a Solo 635 chainsaw purchased at Costco of all places in 2002. I think Solo has gotten out of chainsaws, so this is an orphan.

For a homeowner-model saw it seems OK. It's not used enough, and consequently it's not running that well these days -- surging under throttle and sometimes completely stalling. I probably need to take more of the fuel system apart for cleaning and overhauling than I have.

I'm honestly surprised that this thread hasnt taken off. I can't think of a more badass tool than a high reving, chain spinning, tree dropping, zombie killing chainsaw!

Anyway, since my first post, my collection has grown like weeds.

I just picked up this saw yesterday for $40. A Stihl MS290. I have virtually no use for this saw as I have much better ones, but for the price I couldnt say no.

About 1/3 of my collection. These are all runners. I find dead, and bring them back to life.

Man I'm jealous. I never find Huskys out here. It sounds like you and I have the same hobby. I scour classifieds looking for dead saws. I think I'm up to around 25 saws or so. Most are runners.

Nice saw. Post pics of your husqvarna. I have mostly Stihl, but am a big Husqvarna fan. They just never go for sale around here.

I'll post more pics of my husky. I need to get it running. I cleaned it up a yr ago. The saw is older than me. It was my dads, it cut many of trees in Montana. The wood boss photo is me cutting down a dead tree in my yard.

My avatar shows me using my 98 Stihl with a 56" bar. I bought the thing at a yard sale to hang on the wall of my garage but actually get to use it about once a year. Yes, it take two people to use it. Once it is placed on a log the second person isn't needed till the cut is finished.

I have a stihl 660 and 362. I love they can sit for months at a time and always fire up within a few pulls. I’ll try to get some pics. I leave them dirty more times than not. Keeps them from rusting up

Go for it. Word of warning though, this is my second one, the first one didnt hold enough and chainsaws multiply like rabbits.

I only own 3... thats 3 X what most ppl own. I don't need any more. I live in so cal only need a little wood in the winter to supplement the heat in the house. We have Nat gas.

Ever get on Arboristsite? There are many people including me that thought they only needed a couple saws. :lol_hitti

There is no such thing as more than needed. This site is full of threads of huge ratchet, hammer, vise, and screwdriver collection threads.

I have been looking for a good deal on an 026, 260, or 261 series, but they stay pricey.

Here is my 009. It's an oldie but runs great and sounds like an old v twin.

My 009L different vintage, the “L” must be the difference. I bought new about ‘94
I see plenty of vintage saws for sale but just don’t want a saw without a chain brake:thumbup:

Yeah, yours is the later, slightly more powerful one. My dad has one just like yours.

I have a Husqvarna that I basically look after for my father in law. If it stays down at his place it inevitably gets abused by "friends" borrowing it or even disappears altogether as has happened numerous other tools of his.

I put a new chain on it and it helped me and my uncle (he has a bigger Stihl) to cut down and trim down the hedge/ trees in my back garden. Which reminds me I need to get a new pull cord for it!

It's amazing how fast somebody can tear up a chainsaw. I loaned one out to a friend who had one branch to cut up. That saw came back dirty and as sharp as a spoon. I only have one saw that I will loan out (a cheapy Poulan Pro) unless it's to my dad, because I know he will take care of them.

It's not just saws.
He has loaned out his trailer numerous times after I have fixed the tail lights. Every single time e it comes back with broken lights.

If it was my trailer they wouldn't be getting it at all after the first time e they damaged it.

I hear ya, My buddy wanted to barrow my saw. I told him he could have the home slice(lite). He questioned me, don't you have a stihl? I told him ya but i don't lone that one out. I offered to help him out but he didnt take me up on that or my home slice. No one will take better care of your stuff than you will.
