I use the PVC pipe with the slot cut in it to hang tools, I just mounted my charger (M18/M12) to the underside of lift top on my tool chest. I just have a power bar and extension cord.

I keep my impact and drill in a piece of PVC, keep one charging station plugged in all the time. I only have makita battery tools, so this works for me. This is the back wall of my work bench.

I threw together my version of a charging station. I like several of the others that I've seen
but I don't have as many cordless tools, so I really didn't need to get real elaborate.
I had a couple shelves, used one, some screws and 3 L brackets for a little support.
I cut slits in the shelf to run the cords through and then screwed it down, The bad thing about it is, If I add another tool I'll have to take all the screws out but it works and cleared up my work benches some more.

That timer is a great idea! My charger "hisses" when the battery is charged and sitting plugged in, this would be a solution for that.
