OK - what editing (free) software can do that?

If you're running Windows you can get free Windows Movie Maker. Mac user Google search for iMovie. Don't know much about them, but they're free and good basic video editing software for the beginner/novice.

Plus it's my FIRST Crown label grinder.

With a monster pedestal for an old Mummert Dixon grinder it was $70.

Awesome Bluebolt, I have one open ended pre-block but it has the old style Craftsman name, looks like before the heritage logo or may be heritage time period but they didn't use the heritage logo on it.

I had to use 1"1/8 x 1"1/8 spacers made out of wood along with the feet to clear the bottom of the stand. That also added a small amount to the height of the stand which is good. The bolts are 3/8 x 2"1/4.

I have not used it with a grinder, I am going to put my 1962 1/4 HP pre block on it. Just have not had time to finish it. I have a pre block just like the one bluebolt just purchased. Also mine does not have side covers.

It is a craftsman grinder stand and I have no idea on the weight.

I do believe in 1962 that anything over 1/4 HP had side covers, thus the 1/4 HP was the only pre block model without them.

Runs fine, looks a little rough. Missing the side covers, kind of the only bummer. Going to do a de-rust and repaint this weekend. Will get some new bearings and wheels on it too.

BTW - FedEx packed a 1/2-HP Block m-397.19340 in a 20x20x20 box on the most recent shipment. Previous shipments were in a 16x16x16 box.

For example.

It is pure conjecture on my part, but I suspect the larger box and resulting increased packing material are a reaction to a damage claim by the recipient, that was filed and paid in full.

The FedEx store that packed that shipment is the same, so it is reasonable to expect they were instructed to be more conservative/careful in packing.

I've got one from torqueman that I'm sprucing up, and I have a label saved on the computer that I got off of here, but I've done some test prints on plain paper and quality isn't very good. I've got ONE sheet of laser-printable vinyl sticker, and I don't want to f*ck it up!

Ricken: Jack the maker and owner of 12 gauge garage showed a metal made badge he had made for his block maybe last week or the week prior. He also changed the warning a bit to make it more personal. I think he said he could have a few made, but i didn't need one so can't remember cost or where. find Jack's posts on this thread or i think he posted on his huge garage gallery thread. ask again if you can't find it.

The Mummert Dixon grinder base weighs 100 pounds even according to my scale.

I don't particularly trust this scale since it says I gained weight since Dec 1st.

Mostly finished up my second matching 1/2HP block tonight that I got from Torqueman about a month ago. Thanks again TM! I wasn't able to use your label picture due to the quality issue, but GJ member Franklee hooked me up with an awesome word document that did the job. Thanks Franklee! I made two labels for my blocks with consecutive serial numbers just for the hell of it. I'll pass the label document on to TM if Frank gives me the go-ahead since he's the king of all that is block and it would help others. I used a Papilio laser-printable vinyl decal sheet that I got for like $3, and it came out pretty well. Not as glossy as I'd like, and I know I could clear coat it, but it's good enough as is.

Still working on getting a lamp setup for it. I ordered the gooseneck and socket from Mcmaster and I have the plastic cover from searspartsdirect. Just need to figure out what to to about the metal bulb cover, if I even need it. If the plastic cover fits snug enough on the socket to not move around, I might be able to get away with a flourescent coil bulb. Those don't get very hot and shouldn't melt the cover.

This grinder will be forever etched into my brain. The night I took it apart is the same night my wife told me she was moving out.

My "grinding block" has the covers, but I like for my wirewheel/buffing grinders to be open-wheel indy car style for more accessibility.

I have both wheel cover castings, the right side cover plate and both tool rests if anybody here needs them.

And here's "grinding block". Mounted behind my Cman 100 DP on top of a HF 7-drawer side cab with casters and a 3/4" ply top. This one's in pretty good shape and I'm not messing with it. I did make an extra label for it since I had the material, but I probably won't even put it on.

Save them, they are hard to find and you never know when you may want them to turn the buffer back to a grinder.
