There were a bunch of rectangular switch manufacturers back in the day. I worked for a U.S. switch manufacturer that caught on fire and went out of business. Or, maybe it was the other way around.
we will never know the truth. The major players were Cutler-Hammer, Cherry, Carling, Tower, Marquardt, a very crispy Lucerne (who didn't make these paddle switches) and a few others.
There has to a source for the originals, but I haven't been able to find it. In all honesty, I've spent less than 10 minutes looking.
I've spent considerably more than 10 minutes and could not find one with exact dimensions of that particular switch. There have been lots of leads but none panned out, if anyone finds a direct replacement, you will be famous!

Bagged: with 100 degree temps around the country today it doesn't take much to get the guys changing the subject in any conversation. nice find and let us know how it runs when you pick up the grinder. also i'd like to see a few more pictures of the height adjustment feature of your new stand.

So here it is. $40 the stand is all the way down in the pics I took. It adjusts from 24" to 36". It's China made but pretty beefy. I might try to convert it into a vise stand, or it will be a stand for my Dayton belt sander build. Maybe I'll make a block grinder/sander with my Dayton belt sander. I have enough grinders now.
If your Dayton is a USA model, it will make an awesome belt grinder.

Just got this one in a auction, have to go pick it up on Thurs.
Not my best deal at $50 but I'm happy.
I also have a bid in on a 3/4 hp wish me luck.
That's a good deal and looks complete including the quench tray.

See I have the same one but missing the covers. And the covers are not the same as the newer round top commercials. If anyone spots the correct covers please let me know. Then I can save another complete block.

I'd slap a Trick Tools MT adapter on your Dayton 3/4hp (assuming it's a USA model), and it's as good as it gets. Should bolt right on. It looks like it is only available in a 2x36 at this time, but it would still be fine---same as the Blockmeister, and for $219 you get to experience the exciting world of belt grinding
BTW, 1/3hp would be too weak for a 2" wide belt.

Picked this 3/4HP one up yesterday.
Does the stamp on the bottom indicate it was made in 1978?
Runs pretty smooth, and it is amazingly clean. The guy who owned it before apparently had it for ~20 years and only used it to sharped lawnmower blades.
Came with the factory base which someone had spot welded onto a big steel plate.

when I told my son I was going to pick up another bench grinder he just rolled his eyes and shook his head and said "Okay I will make some more room on the shelf.Honest it's not my fault that I keep finding them at auctions and sales for give away prices. I just hope that no one in my area joins here and finds out what good little grinders these are and starts competing with me.

DM: your dad does amazing work and what's even better is I bet he's only owned that one a few days. your restorations are pretty nice too and did you learn a bit from Dad? also how to buy them for next to nothing so you might make a few sheckles in case you want to buy something for your shop? Is Dad a member and if not you need to get him to sign up and share some of his secrets?
