Hey
It has been almost 2 weeks since my partner and I got this adorable female Polish Lowland Sheepdog. She is 12 weeks old and looks very sweet. It seems when she gets engaged in destructive behavior like digging, eating dirt, eating her own poop and so on, it's no way to stop her. Specially with digging she get aggressive and starts barking high pitched and behave aggressive. She seems to be oblivious about all the housebreaking training and effort as well! No matter how much we try. Any advice would be appreciated.

Normal puppy behavior. It takes a few years for most dogs to settle down

Boredom.
More exercise. And obedience training.
Puppies have a ton of energy so wear her out a little before training.

Also mind stimulating activity is always good also.

In the house,
Hide the ball is a good one.

This is Henry (1 year)
My wife is taking him to training once a week for basic obedience stuff.

He is also a digger.
But getting better as he gets older...

My other shepherds outgrew the digging thing for the most part.

Is that a Lava lamp on the ceiling?

attachment.php

Yes it is. I have a habit of wiring in old lamps to things like the stove fan, compressor, and ceiling fan so that I don't leave them on when I exit the shop for the night. This one was a floor lamp with a lava lamp in the stand...it was no longer a viable lamp, so I repurposed the lava bulb as a ceiling fan indicator mounted to a older wire-wheel hub cap. It was my daughters during her hippy phase...lol.

This is Harper, our 1 yr old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. Her shop time has been limited during the puppy phase as she will eat anything on the floor and I'm still under construction. We both learned the hard way when she started eating romex.

Our previous dog was a rescued Swissy. Great dogs.

My condolences as well. It's never easy, but you have the right attitude. There are a LOT more dogs out there waiting for a great new owner.

Here is a Clyde update. Clyde is a year old now. in the past 10 months that we had him he has put a few pounds on. not sure what he weighs. first picture was when he was 8 weeks and 19 pounds. He is turning out to be a good dog. When he is a year and a half I hope to get him certified as a therapy dog so I can bring him to children's hospitals and nursing homes.

What beautiful beast! What type of Mastiff is he? How is he with smaller dogs/animals/children so far?

He is an English mastiff. He very good with small dogs and kids. He just doesn’t realize his size and strength yet. Here is a picture with a small dog

Thanks all for the support, worse part is coming home, hearing something but it's nothing.
Started looking on line, might as well be adopting a kid, might be easier, LOL.

I volunteered a few hours a week at a shelter in high school. The project dog was an English mastiff. He wasn't good on leash (8-10 months, 95lbs and growing) and was kennel-defensive/aggressive so I spent several hours doing not much more than sitting still out side his kennel until he decided I was cool enough. Eventually I could leash him up get him outside without any anger from him. The full time staff were impressed, but not with anything I did, more that I DIDN'T give up or get intimidated. I've wanted one ever since, but its never been the right life-stage for us.

I've seen one of those defend his "master" (an 8 year old girl). Have been around the dog forever, never saw as much as a hint of aggresion from him. One day about 20 yrs ago, my niece was walking the dog (yes, he probably outweighed her by three of four times) when some idiots were obviously going to harass us (she walked just ahead of me, and the guys approached us from the front). Doggie, looking good and calm and all you want, knew immediately what was going to happen, and went to town with one of these guys when he tried to kick the girl. Didn't end up well for the guy. He returned to my niece, and "asked" her to take back his leash and to continue walking, again looking good and calm and all.

They'll be in my heart forever. Thank you Ichabod for taking care of such a great boy, and teaching him to take care for others.

How stupid could you be to **** with a young girl walking a Mastiff?

Dixie Jumped up in the cab yesterday when I had the door open, and wasn't about to take "I'm not going anywhere, I'm just working on it" for an answer...

Long time lurker etc etc etc

This is Raven, our 2(ish) year old pit rescue mix. She goes everywhere she (responsibly) can tag along and loves meeting new people. Usually, she helps in the garage by licking my face at inconvenient times and crawling under vehicles on jackstands.

Tig2.jpg

Got him from the Humane Society a month ago. He comes to work with me by day and sleeps in my shop at night. His name is "Tig", which is short for Tiglath-Pileser, III (an Assyrian conqueror from the 7th century BC). He's a pitbull terrier mix, about 14 mos. old.
