Lost Tara this afternoon. She'd been lethargic since yesterday morning, not eating and had started breathing strangely. Took her to the vets today and she apparently had a huge mass on her spleen that burst. Nothing the vets could do and she died on their table. 
Mines an idiot and probably won't let me get a photo right now....
Normally have him on a long lead in the backyard when I'm home/it's nice. Did some grading and am in the middle of seeding, so had him on a shorter lead out front. He couldn't see me so was throwing a howling fit, wrapped the lead around the drop spreader and then took off when he tipped it over. 3 laps around before I got him to stop, casualties are some rope burn, a dewclaw and 1 spreader.
He was growling at me because I cleaned and sprayed with antiseptic, now he's just sulking.

She was. Daft as a brush too, like every dog we seem to have had over the years.

Took my twosome to the dog park. Just got back as I type this. They're both pooped out from running and playing with the other dogs.
Talking to a couple that were there yesterday they said a lady who had three pit bulls with her was walking them off leash at the park. Turned around for one that wasn't keeping up to find it had dropped dead! It was only nine years old. The owner was extremely upset the couple said. They got an old guilt from the car and a couple guys helped carry the body up to their car. Upsetting as hell but in a way better than the dogs that get cancer or have a stroke (like my little Joey earlier this year) and linger in pain.

You don't need to worry about the 5 second rule when you have a 3 second dog.

Thanks. Luckily she still has Arlo to play with. They're both 18 months and just a 1 day age difference between them. Not sure how she'd cope if she was on her own as she's already lost 3 friends in the past year.

I've had a lot of very good dogs in my life but I reluctantly have t say my two Labs were the best dogs I ever had. First Dudley, a black Lab mix I later found out was half Dalmation - so he was one ********* "dot". I should have known something was up because he was the fastest dog I ever had. Then I brought home 9 week old blonde Lab, "Sooner" who crawled all over Dudley, bit his ears, etc. Dudley never growled at him nor disciplined him. He just showed Sooner (still my avatar) how to act. He grew up to be such a devoted, fine friend. I can't think of him too long or it makes me tear up. Rest in Paradise my boys until I hopefully get to join you.

He looks SO much like my long gone lifetime best friend, Dudley when he was young. They are incredibly handsome, smart, loving dogs. Dudley lived to be 14 but began having epileptic seizures toward the end. He'd "freeze". He was conscious but couldn't move. He'd come out of it in a few minutes but he'd be exhausted and sleep for hours after one. He developed a white mask on his face in his later years but he was still active and fun for a very long time. I still miss all my dogs and yet some are just a tiny bit more special.I say watch the welder Jake sez watch it yourself, my eyes are killing me.

Dan, Jake is number eight he is two and dropped into my lap a year ago. I went nine months without a Lab after Nez passed I figured she would be my last. Then along comes Jake he needed a dad and I needed a dog . Lord please let us grow old together, Amen.

Dudley was truly loved. It is hard to see the cloudy eyes and grey muzzles knowing there time with you is getting short. I agree. I could never understand the people who leave there "best friend" with strangers at the very end.

He had like tiny 1/16” points still sticking out. Like they broke off or something. I got him at 7 weeks and he was completely healed from the removal so I suspect they did them very young

Does Banjo have an off switch? My friend had a Border Collie/Lab mix (another herding dog type) who never stopped unless she was asleep. It was a blast to watch Keiko try to herd the kids while they played soccer in the field.

He is super high energy. We had a Golden Retriever that lived to 15 we lost and then spent 9 months trying to find a dog during the pandemic. We got Banjo as a "Repo dog" (returned to breeder by his first owner) as a 6 month old. Going from a geriatric golden to an aussie puppy was a MAJOR SHOCK to our system for sure.
We got a handler to give him and us a dog obedience course and it was a tremendous help. We can walk him wherever. He doesn't bark at other dogs (even when they are being A holes), he doesn't tug at the leash. We even take him into Lowes or Rural King with us. "High Energy" doesn't mean "Poorly behaved" for this dog anyway.
I used to put my golden to bed at night and assure him he was "The best dog ever". The aussie hasn't gotten that complement yet, and may never get it, but he's a really good dog.

Give one of these things a try:
You know they run into everything with the cone of shame, I have basically the bottom right version, and he loves it.
The other option is when Willow had her no puppies surgery we did a onesie, and it worked real well. You could unhook the back and it had a way to hook it to the back so she could go outside, she did not mind it at all.
My little one with bad joints really has issues, he basically is in the "the pillow" all the time. Now he gets mad when you take it away.

I am a big Border Collie fan, they are not for everyone however. This dog will not be happy if you just want to sit on the couch and watch TV.
I like smart dogs, sadly willow is not the brightest bulb on the tree, but she has a good heart.

No. He was 52 at his last vet appointment.
I think the chair is throwing off the scale. That's an Adirondack double chair (sits two people like a love seat) my 3 boys and I made as a Christmas present for the wife a few years ago. If you're looking at that like it's just a normal deck chair...it's going to throw off your sense of scale by a lot.

My two sisters are 48 and 57. The Blue Merle one is the piggy. She needs to run more and lose some weight.
