No doubt!

Can’t smell fresh for more than 3 seconds! THE HORROR!!!
When my girlfriend tells the dog, “You stink!” I always think their response would be, “Thanks, I try!”

When we still had Sooner - my avatar and lifetime best friend - we’d visit her sister’s property and they had geese on and near their 1 acre pond. He’d look for a pile of goose poop and would roll on it! Being white it would leave a green smear on his coat. Fortunately him being a Lab meant he couldn’t wait to go in the pond and swim around which would take it off. Just had to make sure the rinse was the last thing he did each day.

Rest in Paradise my boy, I hope to merit joining you there some day.

Unloaded a parts mower, and wondered where my pup went!

Luckily he came when called, but REEKED of something FOUL.

Right into the bath he went IMG_3716.jpeg

He wasn’t too happy about it, but afterwards, he had the zoomies lol

Smells 100X better!
Did you find what he rolled in? If not he’ll do it again.

A great dog is a fantastic partner in your garage, barn, and other hobbies and a wonderful part of the family.

Previous garage dogs in our pack were a male 95 pound white GSD mix,
a large, pretty female collie,
which were both still around when the kids were little.

When their time came the kids got a tiny little black Peekapoo male.

Then I got a female Belgian Malinois / Dutch Shepherd cross who was too distractable, too friendly, and too prey driven for the mil/LE pipeline but way too energetic for for a typical pet situation, so we took her in.

A husky looking dog started showing up in the area one winter and we found him dying in a ditch in the freezing rain and took him in. He was older, maybe 12 or so best estimates. He tested out at about 75% Husky and 25% Australian Cattle Dog. He had a nice life but only for about a year when he woke up from a stroke and couldn’t walk or eat/drink.

Days later a GSD/Red Hound mix pup started showing up. We took him in.

A friend was having trouble placing a black lab mix that was heart worm positive. The rescue did the treatment that we sponsored and we took her in. She tested out like 25% lab, and like 7.5% each ten other breeds.

The little Peekapoo‘s time came and the wife was thinking of another Rough Collie, or an Australian Shepherd, or a Border Collie. Some neighbors had some great mini Aussies, and let the breeder know we were looking. They do one litter every other year of Australian Shepherds and minis. They had an unintended mixed litter. Their minis are totally show and pet/companion bred, and the full sized ones work bred. People tend to want one or the other. And people looking for minis don’t tend to want a 45 pound + male, and that’s too small for most wanting a regular one. So we ended up with him.

A week after - when we were “done” and had “more than enough” people started seeing a black GSD looking dog in the area. She was young, skittish, and scared. We finally got her close, she was 45 pounds and skin and bones. And sick. A trip to the night emergency vet, heart worm treatment, and a few months later she is 75 pounds and happy as can be. She had no idea how to walk on a leash, get in a vehicle, use stairs, panicked shut in a room, what furniture was, etc. Like the red hound/GSD mix she also had no idea what toys were either. She has ended up fantastic like the others.

So we kind of have a pack.

With five still with us out of the eight over the years.
Ranging from one to eight years old.

One of my best (human) friends passed away last month and none of his family wanted his dog. We happily took her in. 7 year old boxer named Ella. She hasn't left my side since we brought her home.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but good on you for taking in his pup. I'm sure she appreciates the company as well.

Ah….she’s missing her former owner and likely doesn’t understand why she’s not with him anymore. Thanks for taking her and please give her over-the-top attention and affection as she grieves her loss.
PS: condolences on the loss of your friend too.

Also PS: Looking back at this photo she REALLY needs her nails trimmed They're very long but don't trim them yourself unless you know that you need to do it gradually so the quick will retract or it will bleed and really hurt her. She certainly doesn't need that pain while she's grieving too.

We're in Northern Cal helping bro & sis in laws pack for moving. Took my pups to their local dog park 2x already. Very nice and adjacent to a really pretty "people park".

Fifi is liking the small waterfall in the doggie park. Max won't consider going near it. On the other hand, while on leash and in the regular park he sought out goose **** and of course rolled in it. Smells SOOOO good to him and SOOOO bad to us. Had to wash him after.
