This came up in my FB memories today. She was always by my side and I spent many, many hours training and socializing her. Best friend I've ever had. This was her personal record of 20 cookies while in a sit-stay. Of course when I told her "ok!" she got to eat several of those. I lost her to cancer very suddenly in 2017.

I just had to put this pound pup down, when the pain meds couldn’t keep up. She went blind three years ago from undiagnosed diabetes, her entire back was riddled with arthritis (probably from some horrendous accident in her past), and a little hypothyroidism thrown in.

We got her a dozen years ago from the local dog pound, who advertised her as a retriever mix.
A dna test said she was several kinds of bloodhound and catahoula, with Rhodesian ridgeback outwardly predominant. She was the fastest dog we’ve ever had, despite her broken/poorly healed RF paw.

Ahhhh, poor poor pup. Sounds like she had all sorts of bad health issues but THANK YOU!! for giving her love and care for as long as you could. I'm sure she loved you and was devoted to you. They live such a short time and absolutely break our hearts when they go.

By the way, what was her name? She'll Rest in Paradise, I'm sure.

We had that "left out" situation at one point. But from a different cause.

We had a Smooth Coat Border Collie mix, an Australian Shepherd/St. Bernard mix, & a Bulldog mix. 2 herders & a lazy dog. One day the Border Collie & the Aussie started herding each other from the front of the house to the back, & back & forth over & over. Play nipping at each others cheeks. The doggy thoughts I was hearing were saying "You're the sheep" & the other saying "No... you're the sheep".

The Bulldog just sat in the living room turning her head watching them running back & forth. Like watching a tennis match. Her thoughts seemed to be "What is wrong with you two? That looks like a lot of work for no food". She was all about the food.

They were pretty good together. The Aussie had lived on the street for awhile when we got her. It took a bit for her to learn to trust the other dogs, but once past that point they were a fun bunch.

Messi spent 2 weeks in the Hamptons for then Vice President Biden‘s vacation, and Messi lived on the beach, enjoying the water, between working.

Messi spent a week on full detail solely protecting the President of Afghanistan throughout NYC for the United Nations General Assembly.

Messi spent 2 weeks traveling with the Pope when he visited Philly and NYC.

According to his handler: “Messi was like my little knucklehead brother but we could read each other like nothing I ever seen before. At the time, he was the best dog in the kennel. There was nothing and I mean nothing that he couldn’t find. He was unstoppable in his prime.”

NOW… he is loving retirement and we are trying make sure he is very well taken care of and spoiled rotten.

This is amazing. I didn't realize they adopted these dogs out. Are there special requirements and qualifications for prospective new homes/owners?

Wow, I can't believe how long ago I posted Prissy's pic. After a long and happy life, I lost her last July. 9 days after her 17th birthday. I'll see her again someday at The Rainbow Bridge with that little tail wagging when she sees me!

Yes. The application process can be very lengthy and they have some strict requirements, but they are worth it. They deserve a good retirement. Most of them are still very active, full of energy and require quite a bit of exercise. They can get bored easily, so plenty of play is essential. This is the organization we went through. Great group of people that are doing incredible work.

He's got a STRONG prey drive, huh? Usually that means they go after little dogs too. Worrisome but glad he's friends with her.

Not worrisome at all. 10 years old, never an issue with another pup, or small child. He knows the difference, and his job. Only ones worrying are critters..I don't know how they do it (smell, sound, feeling?) but, when he was a pup he tore the hell outta the yard digging up moles :ROFLMAO: haven't seen one since..

I had a little Corgi/Dachsund mix that passed ON my birthday in 2019. Broke our hearts. She was an odd looking little dog but a sweeter soul has never existed. She wore a necklace, not a collar because her neck was bigger than her head! Ha ha. They're GREAT dogs...... but then? What dog isn't if they've been raised with love and care?tempImageWYbfsK.jpg

Are they Golden Doodles? Hard to tell from that angle, but, as far as security goes, the ones I know would help a thief load the truck for a belly rub! Just like my Labs.

Little fella is getting big. His dad was around 85lb lean; I wouldn't be surprised if he reaches 85-90 lbs. He is about 6.5 months now and turning out to be a great pup! He is extremely friendly, happy and loves people and other dogs. I have to watch the wood scraps when he is around the garage through. These three wood pieces are his personally acquired collection that he gathered himself.

lol you got that right. They're Havanese. A dog we had never heard of until looking for a small dog. This is Bear. He's 20lbs. We were at the beach at 3C
