I think my dog is broken. I set up the only kennel I have, put the towel he came home in, in there, left the door open, with the kennel in a conspicuous place, so that he can come and go freely…

Yup. Pulled the towel out, and is sleeping in front of it Lmao.

We learned “come here”, but promptly forgot it when we learned “sit”.

He’s something else, Lmao.

Oh and he peed on my chest this morning because I didn’t wake up quick enough. I guess I jumped up stupid quick, which scared him. So now he has been “telling me off” vocally hahaha

What a character 😂😂
Put something on the bottom. Imagine sleeping on rebar.

Unfortunately I lost sully Christmas morning he almost made it to 15..

Now I’m not sure you can call M E Lou a garage dog or tool thief… she don’t like the compressor so she watches from outside most of the time.
Sorry about Sully...

Sure like the "Tool Thief"!

A blanket over the top would be shredded in no time lmao.

He’s teething, so everything is fair game.

He’s getting used to it, he was hanging out in it off and on. He’ll get there.
Yep, mine chewed a lot of blankets. Barfed on a few more, and I mistakenly used a nice quilt to cover the couch so that got worn out.

With the teething, try a firm "no", then swap with an appropriate chew toy and give praise.

Ha, that's funny.

I'm sure you know already but house breaking a puppy is really more about training OURSELVES to take them out as soon as they wake up, as soon as they stop playing, as soon as they eat, and if not then, every 2 hours at minimum. Plus using the same word potty" "poo poo" "Do your business". And over-the-top praise when they actually do their business.

All dogs are characters, each unique in certain ways. Speaking just for me there's nothing better than a dog. There are NO bad dogs, but too DAMN many bad owners.

Yup.

“Come on, let’s go outside to go potty”

Then out the same door. To the same spot outside. Every time.

I’m not mad he peed on me. Just it was QUICK. He woke me up, I asked him “outside go potty?” Then the warmth hit!

It was THAT quick haha

He will get there. Just gotta keep at it.

^^ Great looking pooches!

Z - I think your fluff monster has some Norwegian Elkhound in him. I've had 3 of them. They're great dogs. They shed a lot but their fur does NOT smell like "dog".

Maybe. The stripe down her back is top, fur but the rest of her body is just the under fur.
Our original Holly had the double layered fur that made her life hell in the summer. You could comb it out on a daily basis and still have loads.

We think thats she's been completely shaved as the photos we got when she was 2 and a bit months old she was a lot darker and it looked like her topcoat.
We had the original Holly shaved in the first summer we had her (we know its not recommended now) and the underfur grew back really quickly and thick but the topcoat took months and months longer to reappear.

Holly has been a bit scared of her today. She's always been a bit unsure of any change, so she's tried to chase her off but Lucy just doesn't take the hint. She's not too bad in the garden but is protective of the sitting room. She was just the same with Arlo for the first few days though.

She's got a big crate with her cool mat in that she feels safe in now.

Because obviously this wee thing is a real killer.
2023-09-11 15.21.02.JPG

Had them both in the fields across the road and Holly actually started to try and get her to chase her. Lucy wasn't too sure at first but after a few failed tried joined in. (y)

Holly has tried to play with her a few times again today but it seems like Lucy is a bit unsure of just how to play. Doesn't really help that Holly is sending her mixed signals. One minute she's telling her off for getting too close and the next she's trying to get her to play.
We're wondering if she'll grow into her ears or if she's going to use them to fly.

Lost him two years ago on christmas. Still a hole in me that can never be filled.:( I had to move my shop because I couldn't work in there anymore without him.
I’m sorry for your loss buddy .

What breed is this buddy??

Here's Virgil. Happy to hang around the garage with me on nice days. Always mesmerized watching the cars go up and down on the lift.
Nice one buddy , i find this thread interesting

Here's Flash. He's usually only in the garage when my wife kicks him out of the house. Apparently he sees himself as a dog of leisure rather than one who has to work on cars for a living.

This picture is also unusual in that he's awake. Generally he's asleep on his cushion when he's in the garage.

Warm regards to flash hahaha

The picture makes it look like her body needs to catch up to her entire head, not just her ears. But what a cutey.

She found out she can't walk on water this morning. Danced into the reservoir and quickly jumped back out.

Not my garage, but at a friends shop.

We were in the shop BS’n with his neighbor, and Otis eventually got bored lmao

Came and took a nap on my foot. IMG_2470.jpeg

Then afterwards we were watching some TV. Otis was damn near dead to the world. Then he heard something…IMG_2476.jpeg

Yup. My buddy had some chips he was munchin on. So he went over and sat pretty, hopin for a crumb IMG_2479.jpeg

That didn’t work… so he had to make his presence known! Lmao IMG_2478.jpeg

And then when you ignore him, and make a barrier with your legs so he cannot see nor climb, he just pushes on through! IMG_2474.jpeg

Ok ok. Disclaimer.

I don’t condone begging. What was going on was, Otis knows that we are working on “sit” and “stay”. He knows that when he sits when he is asked, he gets a treat. So he will go up to one of us, “beg”, then sit and wait for a treat. Because he “sat” donchaknow. But what he forgets is that he only gets a treat for sitting when asked. Not randomly because he did it haha.

So much trouble, this one is!

A mate has a Maine **** and its nearly labrador sized and takes up 2/3 of a 3 person sofa. :ROFLMAO:

I think she's probabaly gonna be on the large size going by her feet. They're webbed too so trying to figure out what she has in her.

She was inspecting the excavation and retaining wall footing early in the project.

I was a Construction Quality Manager in my career and I've often thought about naming a dog, "Inspector" or "Inspector Bob" - because I used to have a Quality Engineer that worked for me named Bob that insisted he was NOT an Inspector. Guy's on the site would refer to him as one and he'd get all pissy about it. Of course we teased him unmercifully.

Lucy's colouring looks like your N E too. Her topcoat is just starting to grow now so she's less fluffy. She weighs 13kg as of this morning. You can still feel her all her ribs.
Holly was the same when we first got her as her foster parents said they struggled to get her to eat anything. She ate like a horse the minute she arrived here though and put on a fair bit of weight in the first couple of weeks.

She found a stick this morning and was really happy with it until Arlo stole it off her.

Every time I turn around, this one is chewing something!

First it’s the tow strap. It is being used as a wheel chock 🤫

IMG_2498.jpeg

Then I hear some strange noise. Lil man is dragging a damn branch across the driveway. It’s at least twice as big as he is…IMG_2497.jpeg

Puppies aren’t for the weak LMAO

She's a super cute little ******. You likely already know but make sure you socialize her a LOT with strangers and other dogs. But of course protect her from a bigger dog that might be aggressive. She has to know you will always keep her safeguarded. She's going to be a big dog so friendly is best.

She loves meeting everyone, especially if theres the possiblilty or a treat. We live in an area where we rarely see more than a couple of people a day though.

T-Rex our long-haired German Shepherd who will be two years old next week. He is the sweetest dog in his job as a comfort dog at the retirement home or in the pediatric department of the hospital but he is a real beast if someone tries to go through the gate of the house!

Similar here. Baxter loves to meet people, but his enthusiasm turns some people off. Biggest regret in my training, followed buy touching his feet.
