I try to do this too when the with is cool so they can stay in the truck safely if I have to go inside someplace where dogs aren't welcome. I leave water on the floor and all four window down enough to get a breeze but they're never left more than 15 minutes or so.
We have mastered her drinking from my hand. I typically have water with me so she's always set. The hot car danger is definitely a concern and her breed (Old English bulldog) doesn't have the best history of dealing with heat. So if it's not ideal for her I'll let her chill at home if I can't change my plans.
Dogs truly are the best thing ever.

^^^Couldn't agree more!^^^

A short story but long?

Encountered a guy training his giant German Shepherd in Glendora's "Village" area the other day. He was teaching the dog to back up while sitting - dog was doing it too.

Long conversation he referred me to a local place called, "Sit Means Sit" dog training. Raved about them. Told him about my smaller dog being reactive to some dogs & people. He's very inconsistent though. Sometimes male or female, large or small dogs. Doesn't always matter if he's met them before. Mostly he just sniffs but I can never tell when he's going to nip, does not truly bite. His specialty is shoes or pant legs, never anyone's hand.

Set up a consultation with the place for tomorrow and hoping for the best. This man's Shepherd was only 19 months old and probably would dance salsa if asked him to! Lol. He's incredibly well trained already.

The idea of actually communicating with dogs versus commanding them has always been my way. Your little pup will do well I'm sure, especially if you get into it at his wavelength.
Good luck to him, and you too.

Thanks!
Yes, I am absolutely certain that IF a dog understands what you want he/she will gladly do it and especially if you reinforce it with a treat sometimes. They are pack animals and WANT the approval of the pack leader - you/me. It's just I don't know how to communicate reliably. But that'll soon change. The trainer will teach me to speak canine!

Where I go she goes.
Princess Jade of FartsLikeATruckerville.
The Queen of clearing a room.
Her absolute favorite thing is going in the truck with me. I take her everywhere that I can. I'm trying desperately to teach her to fart on command.
All kidding aside, you may want her to have an allergy test. Our dog was no slouch on methane production until we found out that he was allergic to chicken. Once we stopped giving him chicken based food, no more farts.

We went down that path already and she is mildly allergic to chicken too..
The vet said his best guess is her extended lower jaw (I call her chin-tastic!!) requires her to work harder to eat than other dogs and she ingests a lot of air.
She was born with a cleft lip and had to be spoon fed.

Sounds like she went to a great home.

T-Rex will come to the nursing home for therapy on Friday as usual but I won't dress him because he doesn't like it!
Jassie was such a people person. She certainly liked the reactions she got from her patients when she was dressed up.
Therapy work is tough emotionally and she'd come home worn out.
It was especially hard when she would scurry to a room of one of her friends to find them gone (forever).
She also worked the hospice at the hospital and touched families who's elders were there for the end. That ended up with a newspaper article about her both a news article and the funny papers.Jassie Funnies.jpg

Our dogs weren't thrilled with their costumes. Willow is saying "take this off me and throw the damn ball".

We only had the costumes on them long enough to get a couple of photos.
I need the same outfit ! T-Rex has to wear that to run the Mardi Gras! :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely. Over 30 years of showing our girls to adventures in the mountains. This is Chilli and Jassie. They had full lives.NH 2013 181.jpg
Very nice loyal buddies you have.

Not to dampen any spirits or anything but we lost a golden to parvo before it had its second round of shots so he was still quite young at the time. Since then we've had many happy loyal dogs over the past 12 years.

When you have a cat thats grown up around dogs and thinks he is one.
Just off for a walk across the fields.
What does he do when a dog goes by the house and he’s outside? My last cat that identified as a dog would go up to the fence to meet. The. She would run under the gate and sneak up behind the visiting dog.

Thanks Dan In Pasadena. That is a fine looking lab in your avatar. lol, he is a big baby goof ball. His bark is ferocious, and he hears EVERYTHING. But he loves people....especially little kids. I often wonder how he would respond to an actual intruder/threat.
