The 5 second rule doesn't apply when you have a 2 second dog.
Lucy can be asleep in one corner of the kitchen when something falls on the floor and she can still beat me to it before i can pick it up. She's getting better at the 'leave' command though. She's had enough practice. :ROFLMAO:

My beautiful boy turned 11 years old yesterday......................

He's turning into a bit of an old man now, as in going a bit deaf and enjoying extended afternoon naps. But he still likes to trot around the yard, making sure that the neighbors ***** cat is suitably barked at. He also still eats anything he can find, including a full bag of Alan's Party Mix found at the end of my bed. Oh, and the bag of roasted cashews he trotted into the living room with it firmly in his jaw. Very cute, but also quite naughty. Wouldn't have it any other way, he's my best friend.

I would love to get him a friend to keep him company in his later years. But he's so clingy and very much the "only child" that I don't know he would appreciate it as much as I would.

My boy Rudy was getting to be an old man, and we got him a puppy, Gracie. He absolutely loved her. He got to play big brother. He taught her to dog. She gave him years he wouldn't have had otherwise. I made absolutely sure he got tons of attention, as did Gracie, so there was no jealousy.

Then, we got Gracie a puppy, Penny. She was bullying Penny on the sly. Knocking her downstairs, slamming her into walls n whatnot. I kind of separated them. But, they still got tons of attention and love. Once Penny got to be as big as Gracie, the bad behavior stopped and she learned to respect and love Penny.

We had a short hiatus after Gracie and Penny passed within a few weeks of each other. Then we got Otto. He's a pisser and a little savage. I was a bit hesitant to get a second dog, but he jumped into the big brother role with all four feet. He did a grand job of teaching Harry to dog. It's been 7 years and he still sometimes takes care of Harry like he's his baby.

So, it can go either way. You really can't tell.

Anyone else dog refusing to drink water in the winter?

6:15 he starts whimpering for breakfast/outdoors. I drop his food in the bowl and by 6:20 it's time to GO. By 6:25 he's back ready to be let in for his treat.

Then it's right back to the door. I look out at 6:30 and he's attacking the snow, eating it by the CHOMP.

When the snow melts off he's usually confused for a day then reluctantly rediscovers his water bowl.

Otto n Harry prefer our lightly chlorinated water, straight from the tap.

Jasmine drinks huge amounts of water. Last time at the vet we asked if something was wrong with her. He said street dogs tend to drink a lot of water because it fills them up, like they've had a big meal. I'm afraid we already feed her too much but she disagrees and eats as many anoles (small lizards) as she can catch. If she eats too many we may have to train her to eat the bugs the lizards used to catch.
