My Wife couldn't stand Junior, God rest his soul, and he couldn't stand her. I guess that's how it works sometimes. This is Duke. He puts up with me and is my garage companion. My wife can't stand him. Sometimes that makes me like him more. He's good with most things that make noise except the grinder. I think it is a combination of the sparks and the noise. When I weld he doesn't seem to mind. He didn't use to like riding in the car but now that I have taken him on several trips from Ohio to Alabama and back I think he has gotten used to it. He runs at the chance not to go for a ride to the local HD.![]()

Our Yellow Lab, Winnie, also liked blackberries. I'm not sure she was as discriminating on the ripeness though.Lucy likes brambles (blackberries) picked straight from the plant. They've gotta be perfect ripeness though or she leaves them.
My dogs would pick pears, tomatoes and grapes from the source. Always found pure evidence later even though they denied any knowledge.

No offense to the wife, but she did not know what she was missing with that pup. I love all dogs but GSD's have a special place in my heart, and he looked like a good companion pup.

Happy B-Day Roxi !!!
I love ALL dogs, big ones, little ones, it doesn't matter. They're ALL better should than almost any person.
Many years ago I adopted a Norwegian Elkhound from a shelter. His coat was extra thick and full. Vet said he was likely used to living in a very cold climate. He said, "Maybe someone on vacation lost him". Anyway, one day I took him to my local park that had LOTS of ducks on shore. I let him loose thinking he'd just scatter them all to hell.I guess they're literally being kept "at bay"20-30 of those nasty creatures kept trying to come ashore right next to our camp. Boy was having no part of it. We left for an hour and came back and they were all around on land. Had to hold him on the long lead and let him force them back into the water. Oh how I wanted to turn him loose
Could have had roasted goose breast on the spit.
I've always read that among other skills that elkhounds were herding dogs. Yours sure sounds like he showed that. Many years ago I adopted a Norwegian Elkhound from a shelter. Instead he ran full speed toward them and just before he got to them he cut one way then circled around the other way til he'd gathered them into a tight group, quacking like crazy and pushed them toward the water. It was SO cool and I would have had no idea whatsoever how to train a dog to do that much less an Elkhound which I NOT a herding dog at all. They're not a "bird dogs" either. He didn't live long. He got ill and passed away about a year later but he was a truly great dog.
That's every day at my house. As long as they're having fun and not eating the furniture, I'm fine with the mess.
