I have three cats. It's just me and the cats. And the fish. And the geckos. Cats and dogs have short lives compared to humans and most likely you will have to deal with losing one of your family members. I've lost several cats and have been heart broken. I have a hard time dealing with death of my fish. But I find consolation in the fact that I gave an animal the best life possible. And some of them had awful lives before I adopted them; I generally ask at the no-kill shelters who needs a home and adopt a cat that has been in the shelter for 2 years.

In return, I get a lot of love. You can't beat that.

Chewbakka again.

Great looking dogs, and such wonderful photos.

Here's Chewbakka again, taken almost 10 years ago, when the garage was under construction. Chewy left us last year, and we still miss him so. He was a good dog and a faithful friend.

This is Hank the Garage Dog. He is about 8 months in this pic, he's now three years. He is a Norfolk Terrier and is around 15 pounds. I never thought I would like a small dog but he has a heart and personality that are much bigger than his size. I love seeing all of the "shop dog" posts.

This thread is enough to drag me out of lurker status. Lucy, the Akita, and her sister found my wife (and sister) at the bank one day. Our 'families' are now connected.

Rocky, the Boston Terrier and runt of the litter, picked my wife out at the last minute before he was sent back to a puppy mill for breeding (or worse). Got his name from....you guessed it....the movie :)

This is my dog Max. We haven't spent too much time out in the garage together because I got him right before winter, but I hope to change that this summer.

I posted my other 2 way earlier in the thread, but here's the third. Picked her up from a kill-shelter last summer. Best we can figure is she's Whippet (verified through several greyhound/whippet rescue groups) and either cur or Plott Hound. She was picked up from behind a shopping center in 100*+ Texas heat with no water/food. Turns out she had heartworms.

Quite a bit of money later... and she's good as new! I trained her to be a blood-tracking dog, and she was busy last deer season. She has a VERY sharp nose. Tracked a few that we had just about given up on

Remi, when we got her:

But she's not too happy with me right now. Had to put in an underground electric fence b/c she kept jumping our 5 ft. chainlink. But she picked it up quick. Got it all hooked up today, and she already knows that when the collar beeps she better turn around quick!

Amy, actually in the garage...

More Bob...look at the size of those feet!

Garage dogs update. Bob is almost a year old now and has grown into those feet...and then some. He's a force of nature. Amy has just gotten sweeter.

He does this whenever I point a camera at him...trying to look cool. He's scary smart though and the most interesting dog I've had.

Meet Lucy,
She's also my Avatar, but this is a more recent picture. Really sweet puppy, very protective. She just turned 2 last month.

AMY 3/4 in the shade & 1/2 asleep - waiting patiently while Dad is in front of the garage, BBQing (1-4-her-2).
- she is strategically placed to wake up, when I bring the plate of cooked meat, in the house...lol

Here's my newly adopted boy "Beethoven" he was in a county dog pound for 8 days and nobody even called about him. A rescue transported him 90 miles north near where I live, we gave him a foster home, he was such a good boy we adopted him.

Here's the shelter visit before we fostered him:

Here he is in the yard first day we had him:

Here he is playing with a little dog:

Here's a tribute video to our St. Bernard that died of bone cancer...a real sweetheart:

Here is one of Harley going on a parts run with the old man...

Nice dog...cool photo. You should enter that photo in this contest, it's only $5.00 per entry and supports training of assistance dogs for disabled people.

http://www.circletail.org/events/photo_contest.html

Anyone else reading this thread should consider entering...a worthwhile outfit and a good cause, they do great work for / with dogs.

Those blue heelers are intense...in a good way. My uncle and cousin have a dairy farm (my late grandfathers) and they have always had blue heelers. Those things look small but won't back down from anything. Not a 2,000 lb steer or anything else. Pretty cool dogs...

My avatar is my mechanical assistant Pixie. I have 4 other cats, but any time I do any work around the house, there's Pixie right in the middle of it. Below is a picture of her with her stolen Beanie Baby, she carries it all around the house!

My parents have a heeler. Great dog, if I had the room it would be my next. They do pack a lot of punch in a small package. For a bit theres was on a tire biting mission. After puncturing two full size truck tires, a mini van, and one car they finally broke him of that. Training collars are a great thing.

1. Great looking heeler.

2. Do you have a thread with more pics and info on the truck?

That is a friends truck, pm me and i can tell you all about that nasty beast. 2010 score class 8 champion truck . It sucked down $1500.00 bucks in fuel in the 500 last weekend. C12 isn't cheap.

You guys are right, these heelers are tuff as nails. The blue dog will not start a fight, but if pushed by an other dog, he turns into a straight out killer. I have never seen him scared of anything, he is brilliant, has a large human vocabulary and is the most loyal animal i have ever had. But , he is gentle, will play with any dog or kids. On an other note, he can take well over hundred degree desert sun, does not bother him at all, but when it comes to the cold, he does not want to go outside.
Anyway, this is a great breed of dog, i would recommend them to anyone that lives a active life and has the time to keep the heeler occupied. The blue dog goes everywhere with me, even to work daily, and he has been to baja more times then i can even count, he has even been to the arctic ocean.
