She was the runt of the litter; she weighed 4.5 lbs when we picked her out, all her brothers weighed 11+ lbs! I would say she is mostly full grown (15 months old now), but only weighs 40 pounds......she is our mini husky.

What kind of dog is that?

As far as being the runt, a lot of times the runt turns out to be the best of the litter. I think that's why we ended up with Sam (our new Golden). He was the last one left and I'd say he was probably the runt, that's why he was picked over.

MAYOR28.....Beautiful looking dog right there!!!!

Duncan, (front), and Chowder, (rear). Duncan was winding down quickly with lymphoma at 6 years. We got Chowder to keep him company and to ease the transition for the family when Duncan passed.

Duncan in his healthy days. Very mellow dog, I don't think he barked a half dozen times in his 6 years.

A more recent pic of Chowder, he's filled out more and very much a spoiled member of the family.

Frankco......Very sorry to hear about Duncan. We just lost our Golden last month to Bone Cancer. Her name was Brandi. We did get a Golden pup but none will ever be like Brandi was. The new one gets spoiled but not a day goes by that we don't think about Brandi. Good luck when the day comes. Even having another to ease the transition, it doesn't work and he/she will grieve also.

kmcphee......That first pic needs to be in the WTF thread. :lol_hitti I don't know if I have it figured out yet or not.

This is the new pup. His name is Sam. he was seven pounds when we got him and he weighed 14 week before last. He was three months old yesterday. We held him when we first got him, now he thinks he's a lap dog. I think we had him three weeks this last Thursday and he is now house broke, and recently learned to shake hands with both hands, and to sit up although he needs help with sitting up because he teeters over. The bad thing is he still likes to nibble your hands, and sometimes when he's out, he wants to play and not come back in so we have to ******** him with a treat bag. The wife takes him out on a leash sometimes, but most of the time we open the back door and tell him to be a "good boy". He'll do his business and come back to be let in. Still a little work to do with him yet.

When he's out in the garage with me, he likes to sleep in the corner under my desk.

My "Old Man"......Sir Schwartz. Dumb as a knot but super loyal....almost to a fault. My middle daughter does babysitting at our house sometimes.......and when the parents come to pick up their kids, Schwartz has to check them out and give them permission. When a kid is at the house for more than 5 minutes........that kid becomes "his kid".

Here are a couple pictures of my current two. One is 11 and the other is 10. They will occasionally hang out in the garage with me, but usually their visits to the garage are to remind me that it's time to eat.

Here's another pic of Sam. He's going to be 4 month's on Saturday. He's went from a cute little pup to a cute little pain in the ***. :willy_nil He comes out with me in the garage during the day and is great. If I leave him with the wife, he is great, but when we are both in the house together with him......Put it this way, he's going to be lucky to make it to five

He is one of the most defiant little ****'s I have ever seen. He is completely house broke. He can shake left hand, right hand, sit up, play dead, and roll over. But if you tell him "no" the damn devil comes out in him and his mouth just starts running. Bark, bark, bark. Just flat out defiant. I've jerked a knot in his tail a couple of times already. If I take him a ride, he'll either set in the back of the truck with his front paws, one on the console and one on my arm, or he'll sit on top of the console. Just the perfect little Angel. He'd also be a great candidate for an obstacle course. Right before he crashes at night, he runs. And runs, and runs, full out around the furniture in and out of the tables, playing tag with his toys. He just touches them on the run. I bet' he'd outrun any dog around as young as he is. I've never witnessed any other dog like him. Two more months and Sam will be Samatha  I pray to God it settles him down somewhat. I did tell the wife last night though that before long we'll look back and wonder how he became a good dog with the way he was as a pup. I sure hope he doesn't disappoint me. BTW...he just found out how to get up on the tractor yesterday. That look was him barking at me when I told him to get down

I've had a couple of Labradors now and I absolutely love them. I doubt I'll ever have another breed of dog. BUT, unlike most dogs that are mature after about one year, Labs aren't fully mature until about two years. I've also heard; but have no personal experience with it, that female Labs tend to stay juvenile unless they are allowed to have puppies. They are smart as hell. Smart enough to get themselves INTO trouble but not smart enough to get themselves out.

My "Sooner" who is now 9-1/2 (see Avatar) is a fantastic dog but we had taken to calling him O Sooner bin Laden when he was young. He was a terrorist. He'd chew ANYTHING, including the baseboards in the house, pulled the license plate off my girlfriend's Audi TT, etc.

I suggest you walk him a LOT. Tire him out. Don't be impatient with him - I know, it's hard. But they're too smart to be intimidated by your anger and they WILL remember and not be as trusting of you later. Best of luck and enjoy him. They're fantastic dogs.

I can hold my patients most of the time. Normally, when he is the worst is when we are in a supper time. That is his crate time. Then once supper's over we let him out of the crate and he'll lay at momma's feet until his battery is recharged. No doubt, he's going to be a smart dog once he gets the puppy out of his system. I think he's just going through his "terrible two's" in dog years. But one on one, he is a Jekyll and Hyde. And even with that, he'll be spoiled. We haven't had one yet that wasn't spoiled

This was Katie's first time in the pool. Can't keep a Lab out of the water. She's about 3 months old here.

Daisy - 1/2 Australian Shepard, 1/4 Border Collie, 1/4 Blue Heeler. Hates anyone in a big loud truck, i.e. - UPS, FedEx, Scwans. Or if a car drives by the house slower than normal, she'll chase it barking from one end of the property to the other - stays on our side of the ditch though.

I've posted her pic quite a while back, but I just had to do it again today. This is Anna, my black lab. I was told by the vet 2 years ago she was experiencing massive liver failure and wouldn't last much longer. She is 14 years old today and still makes me smile everyday. She has a hard time moving any more. Just standing up is a major effort for her, but she still goes outside to do her business and eats more than ever. I try to spend as much time with her as I can now. I never thought she would have made it to 14!

Wow, if you go back almost four years ago to the 1st page, part of the reason I started this thread was because of my life time best friend, Dudley's passing at age fourteen. He and Anna are virtual twins. He too had to be helped up in his last days. He was very happy and eating well, etc but his legs finally failed him and he began having seizures. I miss him terribly to this day. Cherish every second with yours.

I have posted this elsewhere but thought it appropriate to post here too.
This is Chloe, my soon to be 1 year old lab. I have had other breeds, from mutts to hounds and she is by far the best dog I have had. She loves to follow me around and is very disappointed when she has to stay home. She is just barely starting to calm down from her puppyness, but I can tell she is going to be a great companion for years to come.

The first picture is Chloe at about 10 weeks old (we got her at 8 weeks) the other she is about 5~7 months old and it was her first long car ride/first trip to the beach. Needless-to-say she had a blast.
