His Name is Mica (Like the white mineral. He is a Mini-Schnauzer. Not AKC akknowledged;as white ones are considered uncool for some reason. This dog will take on a huge dog yet is only 14 #s.

Mica-Jeep-Flower.jpg

Above with his winter coat out in Death valley

He'll really only hang in the garage if it is cold out and I have heaters going; or if I am running the BBQ. Great alerter to any car or person within a 1/4 mile of our place.

All our dogs have been named for F1 drivers. Mika (Hakinen) and Keki (Rossberg) are at the farm, Senna (Aryton) below, just passed away:

sennainshop-1.jpg

And now Niki (Lauda), who's got the strangest "smart-as-a-whip, dumb-as-a-hammer" way about her....she eats chunks of rusted metal in the shop....

RosaVerocars045-1.jpg

Of course we also can't forget the feline garage buddy. She doesn't look like much here, but she keeps the spiders at bay!

Here are a couple of shots of mine, but I had to put her down in October. We had her for 13-years and the garage is really lonely without her.

I heard THAT one. Meet our Schnauzer, Zoey... She's a GREAT shop-dog, LOVES to hang out with me while I work. Just the right combination of stick around/interested but not too in the way. But heaven help the stranger who tries to sneak up on us. She's a little barky, but with where we live it works out VERY well, she alerts to all the stuff she should.

She hasn't been THIS small in a while...

This is maggie, she's a true shop dog, she used to go to work with me when I worked in a shop in Phoenix, now she hangs with me at the shop behind the house (my shadow, probably would have been a better name for her). She's a German Shepard Mutt, 55 lbs, and isn't scared of anything and is highly territorial. Nobody makes it down the driveway without me knowing about it first. She earns her keep. In this picture she was smiling for the camera!

Shortie (Lily) barks at anything that moves in the neighborhood usually gets a laugh from people passing by. Otis comes in as backup gets people to move along.

Here's a few recent pictures of Zoey at just over a year old. She comes out into the garage every opportunity she gets. If she looks like trouble, it's because she is:

i really appreciate these threads..........love dogs and cats but just can't bring myself to be set up for the heartache of losing another again..........my sincere admiration to those of you that can find the strength to have , love and lose such good friends..............been told i am selfish for not wanting to share the love of a pet, but really it's a weakness on my part i openly accept.............on an upbeat note, theyb are at thier cutest covered in mud............

Hearstlover, Very nice to see some Norwegian Elkhounds added. I have had three over the years and they were very good dogs. For those that don't know - they don't have a "doggie smell". They can't, there is something about there glands that is not the same as other breeds = at least thats what a vet told me. They CAN smell dirty if you let the get dirty or whatever they roll in and they shed like monsters here in SoCal, but they are loyal as can be. Very good dogs.

My daughter has a Chihuahua named Spooky. Somebody must have told him when he was a wee lad that he is a Rottweiler. 5 pounds soaking wet and bosses the pitbull and a few other large dogs around. He has the heart of a lion.

Here's Molly. Couldn't resist with the red and green theme for Christmas. She is currently competing for the "world's dumbest dog title"...Lovable? yes... But extremely goofy....

Here are three of my favorite things:

4609410084_medium.jpg

Boris...BBQin'... and my new garage! Boris is coming up on ten in February. I've had him since he was seven weeks old. Most of my neighbors are fans of his. I've had a few different people ask me if I'm a police officer (I'm not), cuz he's a GSD and minds pretty darn well. He luuuvs people... He can be a bit much for kids cuz he really gets excited around them. He likes to lick them around the mouth which ends up being a mini-headbutt. I haven't been able to break him of it, since it happens so infrequently, so I warn new kids he likes to kiss! He's a real daddy's boy as my family tells me all the time. He won't let me out of his site, if he has anything to say about it. He also luuuvs my pickup and will become unmanageable if I just lower the tailgate. When I wash a car/truck I have to put him on his rope, cuz he loses his mind for the hose, also.

Our Garage Alarm System (Darby)

Waiting a full year after the passing of our 17 yr old Chocolate Lab, we recently rescued "Darby" from death row. After a month he still shy's away from most people, but is developing his alarming bark when strangers approach - if only at a distance - and is well on his way toward becoming a good copilot.

This is Reeses a big Pug and ShopBoss.
Didn't want a Dog. My boy when he moved out got her. Then he had to move to a no pets place. When the word pound came up I couldn't stand that idea so I adopted her.

She was a handful. No manners, training and a barking fool. Didn't play well with Man or beast. The FedEx guy wouldn't even come in. I had to go out to get my packages. After spending much time watching that Dog Whisperer guy I caught the drift. Took about a year and a half of exercise, discipline and reward to get her settled down. In her fourth year with me now.
She now gets along with other dogs and is great with the grand kids and other people I deem worthy.

Dang, sure wish I could have done the rehab in an hour like Cesar does. :dunno:
It's a never ending job.

Now, she's still a barking fool when anyone comes by but I can shut her down by taking control. Once she sees that I give someone the ok she goes about her biz but never too far away. The FedEx guy even comes in and gets to pet her now. When I'm not at the shop and someone comes up she goes scary ballistic. Worked out pretty well I think.

Spiking the ball (likely the only earned touchdown my ILLINI made this year)

Football3.jpg

Reeses and I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas.
She is not too happy at having to sit for so long without getting a treat.

This is Piggy as of yesterday. The snow turns him temporarily back into a puppy (he's 11 now and starting to slow down quite a bit). He's my first dog (couldn't have one growing up) and is great with kids. He's not very smart, but he makes up with it with enthusiasm and loyalty.

Very pretty dogs... never heard of the breed, looks similar to a Huskie of some kind.

That's what I've learned about little dogs... they don't seem to understand they're little. I think our Yorkie would take on a lion if he had to defend us... would he stand a chance... not at all, but the fact that he'd do it says volumes about the bonds dogs form. It's funny... when taking him running he barks at any big dog, but when we go buy a little dog yipping at him he ignores them.
That's a great picture.

[Dr. Evil] "I'll call him... Mini-Me." [/Dr. Evil]
This is Teika (hence, Teikas Dad), my 11 year old Shiba Inu.
That's a neat looking dog... what's it related to?

Man that brings back memories of my old lab... instantly reverts to being a puppy when it snows... she loved it.

Raildawg - Kudos for saving Lillith's life. Executed for being the wrong color? Maybe that strikes a little too close to home for me:bounce:

Piggy's 11 year old bones and arthritis probably only feel good with the cold of snow. My now-in-doggy-heaven Dudley loved the cold weather too in his later years.
