...his 39' boat took a hard left, so I did the same. Expecting a log or something caught his attention and then over the radio I hear "DID YOU SEE ALL THOSE EFFIN DEER!?!"
reminds me of that cow gif somebody posted a while back

The hound likes to “help” work on cars
Tripod is 14 and deaf so he sleeps a lot and still has perfect vision and loves to lay at the door and spot people walking a block away and bark at them

My two pups hanging with me in the garage and the second photo is a friend of mine that stopped by the garage to visit with his new garage dog "Baker" 11 months old, what a great dog he is.

A very sweet picture. Is he named tripod because he is missing a leg? He certainly loves you!

The white dog on the couch is the Tripod

He was missing his left front leg when we got him from the pound 12 years ago
His real name is Graham but everyone calls him Lucky or Tripod
He’s deaf now, he can only hear if you clap your hands

The basset hound was a freebie
From a breeder because he has an underbite and can’t be used as a show dog , his name is Bandit , since he looks like the one in Smokey and the Bandit , but mostly gets called Frito , since he always smells just like that whiff you get when you open a bag of Fritos corn chips6a4706e5bd02e092ee987c672b35eaf4.jpg

This is Asher, an Anatolian Shepard mix of some sort. Got him from a rescue a little over a month ago. When we picked him up he was 9 months old and weighed in at 50lbs, looking a little too lean. We've put him on a raw food diet to make sure he's getting the right nutrients for a growing large-breed dog. So far he's put on 10lbs, and from what I've read he should get somewhere in the neighborhood of 110-150 lbs. He's a big, adorable, pupply that loves to be around people and has been integrating well into our pack. He lays down a lot and the wife calls him lazy. I like to think of him as "energy efficient".

This is Joey.
We adopted him and his littermate sister, Sugar about 6-7 years ago when we already had Sooner (my avatar) and Bella, who is also adopted and we think a Dorgi. Yeah, FOUR dogs but it was cool. They all got along great.

Joey was a "runner". He'd take off and we'd get a call from MILES away that someone had found him. After Sooner passed away and I retired at the end of 2017, Joey & Sugar became my full time companions. Yeah, I became the stereotypical retired guy with little dogs. Never thought I'd be that guy much less with poodles. Out of the blue, Sugar passed away due to a brain tumor less than a year ago.

Joey was lost without his sister and he has become my shadow. I guess he wanted/needed to be a one person dog. Doesn't wander anymore. Here he is this morning at the end of our driveway while I watered. He's smart and a loyal little soldier. I worry a little because we've been having coyotes take small dogs in our neighborhood recently. They're stressed at end of summer with little food. Have to be especially careful on the night before trash day.

PS: Added another picture of Bella. She's an old timer, maybe 13-14. Has a bad heart condition but is a great little dog. It's gonna be very very hard when she goes and it's coming too soon.

We were not looking for a dog , one that I’d had for 15 years had recently passed and I wasn’t ready for another one .
We went to a strip mall one day and Homeless Pets had all their dogs out on the sidewalk
That are all whining and barking in their cages and this dog was tied to a pole sleeping on the sidewalk ,
One of the volunteers was keeping him at home while he healed up from the amputation

All the barking and cars driving by and he’s napping sideways on the concrete so every one has to step over him .
I thought that’s the kind of dog I want , laid back , not yapping all the time .
My 8 yr old son and I sat down and started petting him and they had all the doggie resumes near the dogs , with a picture , their name , suspected breed and age .
My kid looks at it and while he’s reading it he goes : says here he’s missing a leg dad !
We couldn’t tell with him laying down

So we coax him to stand up and sure enough he’s missing a leg
He’s been a great pal for years
He used to be able to run and get around like any other dog but now he doesn’t run at all , and doesn’t walk very far .
A few years ago he almost died from having his stomach flip over , which apparently is common in big chested dogs .
He was outside , he always like being outside , wed bring him in at night because he’d always start barking at some critter about 3AM
He got out of the fence , and I got a call from a guy that was installing a phone or internet at a nearby residence , so I came home and took him to a The vet for the surgery .

This one is a "rescue" of sorts. Someone dumped her on our farm. Still had a chunk of rope around her neck. She follows me around everywhere.

Spent all day outside working with me.

Here she is inspecting the pile of rust I swept up after grinding the f150 frame.

Ayup. My last retriever chewed everything and had to stay in crate till she was two. She ate a wall one time. Door was open right next to it. Ate moulding drywall insulation and was working on framing.
My daughter has one now and it will mouth or eat anything. Plus he is quick. Scrap cut off hits the floor and he is gone. I don't mind sticks or firewood but the things that could hurt or kill I just have to keep cleaning. Had a worklight glass just shatter. Glass hit the floor and the idiot was right into it. I get him bones and huge toys. Anything with a squeaker or stuffing in it he will destroy in ten minutes and eat. Just keep cleaning up for a few years.

Ooh boy

I’ve heard horror stories about dogs needing surgery because something got caught in their intestines.

Knock on wood all I ever find is small little bits of rubber ball or some undigested carrot.

These dogs just LOVE baby carrots
I go through a bag a week at least.

LoL!

I've had a number of Labs - as my avatar shows. They don't completely mature til well over 2 years unlike most dogs that are mature by 1. They need a LOT of exercise. NO, more than that. A couple long daily walks, running after thrown tennis balls, swimming.

It's not their fault. They're working dogs and most of us don't come close to workng them like we should. Sooner, my departed best friend (avatar) chewed the baseboards in our house, chewed an plant he happens to brush past because it moved so he figured it was a toy. Pulled the license plate off my girlfriend's then-new Audi TT and chewed on it. But he matured to the most chilled out, devoted friend.

GF picked up this little nugget last week while I was away at work. So far she hasn’t left my side, even into the garage to explore every nook and cranny.

She js growing everyday. 9 months and 85 lbs.

Has already learned to sleep where I walk so she will get attention when I'm working. Sleeping next to sink will always get her a pet or two. 1eb5fa17ed9445f4ad93f9b82fc78548.jpg

I'm sure he watches your every move! You have a good looking guy there,

I was once told by a Shepherd breeder that they never sleep, I found that not to be true especially after a long day in the GARAGE! I wore him out.:lol_hitti
