Years ago I had a customer who had two 'second life' Greyhounds. One was missing an eye. Both were gentle and loving dogs. I'd watch them run outside in the half acre backyard and they looked like they were running so slow, but then you realize how much ground they covered in that short time.

Hmmm, now you guys have me thinking about my next dog. Only problem is that I like a dog who will stay and listen while off leash. Wonder if an adopted retired or throwaway race dog could be taught that, or if the breed in general could even be taught that.

They say NEVER trust a retired racing greyhound off a leash, ever! No sense of recall at all.

John T - Thanks for caring for your good friend like that. The water probably feels good on his aging bones and joints and he loves you holding him.:thumbup::thumbup:

How do you upset a garage dog?

Trap his only good tennis ball under a tire. Try as he might, it wasn't coming out for him no matter how hard he tried or whined. Pup had to wait a while while I was swapping my radiator out.

'Ya rude b@stard!:bounce: I'm kidding of course.

Probably drove him nuts. Did he whine about it or just stay there staring it into submission?

My 13 yo branch manager.

That's hilarious and would actually be a good name for a dog, "Branch Manager" ha ha.

I spent my life running Construction Quality so I've thought about naming a dog, "QC" or something like, "Inspector Bob" - a guy that used to work for me.

He whined. A lot. He's almost got me trained. He enjoys knocking his ball under anything he can...my toolbox, carts, vehicles...anything he can get it under and whine about until I fetch it for him and he usually does it when I'm knee deep in working on something. I actually put a board under my box because I was tired of reaching under to get the ball. A lot annoys me as I get older, but my dog interupting work isn't one of them. He makes sure I take plenty of breaks.

Mitch/Henry/Ivy say hello.

They only terrorize moles and anyone brave enough to come to the gate.

Here's Bear Dog !!! I had posted his Pic awhile back. Its been awhile since I was on GJ, I have no idea why I went here, My wife & I had to put Bear down a week before father's day weekend. That Was the hardest thing I had ever done.
He was 15 1\2 years old, & a pound puppy( he was the best I ever had ) all the Neighbors were super sad to see him go. The wife & I had him for over 14 1\2 years. and to this day it hurts not to see him when I come from work everyday

Had a friend years ago that had one as he was a former K9 military man.

Told me one time that he could put that dog in the yard and tell him stay and go on vacation. The dog will be here when i get back he would say. I never got over how well trained and alert that dog was.

How a garage dog looks after puking in said garage and getting scolded for it.

Someone got in to the kitchen trash before he came outside... He wont even look at me right now.
