We lost Holly our hairy teddy bear on monday. She was only a few weeks off turning 17 but had lost 5kg in weight over the past 6 months, was loosing the eyesight in her remaining eye, was struggling to walk and also had canine dementia so wasn't really sure where she was most of the time.
She's left a huge hole in our hearts as we'd had her since she was rescued at 3 months old.

"Bozo". The first day we brought him home he jumps out of the car and heads straight for the garage. He goes and starts licking a gas can spout. I yelled "Stop it ya bozo". The name stuck😆

I LOVE and HATE this thread!! I love seeing the furry kids in all their glory, doing goofy dog stuff and possessing all those good "Whose your buddy" looks. But damn, I HATE,HATE,HATE reading about all of your losses! I grew up with dogs but haven't had for years (cats fit our lifestyle better), so I can really appreciate the special bond they build with their people.
My condolences to those of you that have lost your furry four legged buddies, but I really think (hope anyway) that there's a special place in heaven for them to run, fetch, and stretch out in front of a nice fireplace.

This is my Ausie Cattle Dog rescue named Kona.
She was 1/2 starved found on the railroad tracks outside of Ada, OK
I saw her on the Pet Finder App, and drove down from Harrah, OK about 2 1/2 hours to see her.
When we got her she had no social skills or boundaries. She still has to have her nose in everything! We had a rough week of trying to teach her not to eat everything that falls on the floor. Now she is as loyal a dog as any, and goes everywhere with me. Whe sitting she lays on my feet, as if saying “if you go, I go” lol
She is an amazing frisbee dog. And has no fear. Sometimes I wonder if she can feel pain 👀

she is still rough around the edges, and highly food motivated but so am I (according to my wife) with all her quirks, I could not ask for a different dog.

Awesome pics of garage dogs!
Funny to here the names and wonder where they came up with that one!
Kona was originally La Kota when I adopted her. I loved that name, then my wife reminded me we need to shorten it or she will get all kinds of shorter nicknames.

So what will she answer too?
Kona Rona, Scooby (my wife)
Butthead, Goobs, Goober, Scooby, Scoobs, and when my wife is not around, hey Shithead!
LOL

Went to adopt a 1 year old Labradoodle today named Phoenix - yeah, I don't care for that name either. We may try to change it. Owner is pregnant and about to deliver any day so decided not to keep her. When I picked her up they had the lady's dad's rescue dog, Max a 4 year old they planned to give away too. After discussing a few minutes I put the leash on her and took her to my truck. The little 4 year old male dog followed and hid under my truck whimpering. Obviously they are bonded. I asked if they'd throw him in and they said yes so he came too. Both are very, very calm and already house trained. Since we already have two 13 year old dogs, a huge Doberman/Shepherd mix who is unfortunately nearing the end and little Joey the black miniature poodle we have a houseful. 1st pic is before grooming. 2nd pic is after. Waay cleaner and trimmed nicely.1603EECA-855B-4889-87DC-B2B70ECE8915.jpegtempImageHRzWY8.jpg

Good on you for keeping them together! Sounds like a lucky day for both your family and the pooches.

Thanks. First night was a success. No crying, no “accidents”. I made a bed next to my bed with a thick folded blanket & a pillow. No dice. After 3x putting them off my bed I let them and they stayed the night sleeping quietly.

That’s how my last GR rescue was. I tried to move him off the bed 4-5 times and gave up. He slept quietly and only got up to turn around and lay back down. He was very happy someone kept him, didn’t return him and just wanted to bond.

I’m going to cross post this on my separate, “BarxBuddy” ultrasonic anti bark thread.

Posted above we adopted 2 new rescue dogs, Post #4300^^. The 1 yr old Labradoodle (only) growls or barks in the early evening (so far) at reflections, car headlights through front window (no drapes/shutters) & sometimes things we can’t hear/see.

Tried: Distraction w/chew toys, telling her “Quiet” - no NOT shouted; calmly. Treat when she stops. Doesnt last a long time but annoying for the hour + she does it before getting tired and sleeping. Yes, she gets daily walks - maybe more (until I’M exhausted?) are necessary!

She’s still a pup at 1 year but we need to nip this in the bud. There are a number of ultrasonic training devices. NO, I won’t use a shock collar. Reviews range from “... absolutely works” 40+% to “...don’t waste your time” 20+%. Ordered from Amazon so I’m returning if it isn’t effective. Comments & opinions?

I’m guessing some Border Collie? Last picture I’m sure they are just charging their battery for the next adventure?

Australian Shepherd with a tri-color coat. He is Banjo. Turns 9 months next week and he is a handful!

He's doing a good job of getting us trained up.

Hey Grimpala, are you certain he is alive? It don't look good from here! :ROFLMAO:
I was more enthralled in working on the Chevelle so the pic is quick and dirty, I can assure you after waking me up at 5 this morning by jumping from the wife's jewelry chest to the top of the bedroom door that she is very much alive.
Hey Grimpala cool cat!! Bet it finds some cool place's to investigate in the garage.
The problem is making sure she doesn't get into anything she shouldn't. I have the seats out of the Chevelle at the moment and they are tucked into the trunk, she loves wedging down between them and exploring, or sitting on the roof and watching me. The other night she came in and her feet we're black as coal, she did not like being held so we could wash them.

We've determined that she likes being up high, so I guess we're going to have to put up some perches high on the walls around the house.

I know their is a mouse in there somewhere
We got her from a lady out in the country because we figured most all orange cats were males and we already had a male. Turns out we got the <20% chance of having a female, luckily Artemis could go either way because she was attached to the name at that time. She was born in a skidsteer and raised in a barn, and is definitely more active and outdoorish than the male. She brought what we determined to be a baby Mole to my wife last week. The thing is, moles aren't common in our area at all.

This was Trooper, 1/2 shepherd/ 1/2 Bloodhound. He was a rescue found in the Everglades, half dead. We lost him a week and half ago. He would have been 16 in a week. He was still going strong except for a brain tumor. God I miss him...
