My "kids" plus a frequent visitor. From left: Max, Joey, Fifi & visitor Marlo.

Max, 5-6 yrs old, 26% poodle, 24% Shiba Inu, 19% Lhasa Apso & 13% Chihuahua. He's a super smart little guy that jumped into my truck when I was adopting Fifi so we asked to have him and they gave him to us! We jokingly refer to him as "the little professor".

Joey, will be 15 in Feb. and is healthy as can be. Still gets the "zoomies" and runs around like a crazy. My personal little devotee. Sits right next or on top of me at all times.

Fifi is 18 mo. old & queen of the house. She's super affectionate. She's 27% poodle, 19% American Eskimo dog, 10% Chow Chow, 9% German Shepherd & 8% Cocker Spaniel. Pitbulls, chows & GSD's have the reps of being aggressive but she's sweet as can be. I think she's a Ski-doodle!

And finally "Marlo" a male 11 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie. He belongs to our nephew who is with us several days every week. He & Fifi play nonstop and never get aggressive at all. She tires him out but she never seems to get tired.

Fifi & Max were adopted in March and we hit the jackpot. They've not had a single accident in the house, are excellent with our grandchildren, playful and happy.E3D068F0-99C7-43B3-9F68-F3F7E8BF469E_1_201_a.jpeg

I like your '58 or '59! Let's see more pictures.

What do you mean found your dog at a dumpster? Please tell me someone DIDN'T dump him/her IN the dumpster as a pup did they? There's a particularly hot corner of hell awaiting the monster that would do such a thing.

Thanks. '59. I've had it for 15 years. Raised kids and dogs in it.

Unsure about how the dog ended up living out the dumpster at Chik-Fil-A. Gonna go with abandoned by assholes because not tough enough to win the fighting ring or chew up beer cans. Who ******* knows. Great dog.

Great looking truck and pooch! What's his name? I see "Elvis" in your garage, any chance that's his name?

Give him a belly rub for me. My dad had a '59 longbed Fleetside when I was a kid. Came with a 235 six cylinder and he swapped in a nice running 283 later. After a few years he put a 348 in it, the old W motors that later became the famed 409's. It ran like a scalded cat. Fun memories.

This is a foster dog from the local shelter (who is likely on his way to being our next dog).

He's been with us for a week now -- seems to be settling right in!

Yup, he's keeping you!

They're ALL keepers as far as I'm concerned. The only thing wrong with any dog is what some human(s) have or haven't done to them.

Depending on the day of the week and who in the family you ask, her name is . . .

No Elvis. That sticker is from when I rode my '58 panhead through Nashville and stopped at Graceland on my way home from a two-month, 11K mile road trip that year. I had things to think about and sort out in my life and took off for a bit.

Mine still has the 235 in it. Still has 3sp box and armstrong steering too. It's a good workout. I can't imagine putting any more power into that thing without really going over it.

Good memories indeed. I think my kids will have some too.

How long did it take your dog to adjust to your family? Move right in or were there some learning curves?

Good for you to rescue him.

Captain,

She was loving towards us and our kids immediately. She was (and remains) very resistant to training. I have spent countless hours with her. She knows what I want, just doesn't want to do it.

I learned early on that she will react poorly and immediately to negative reinforcement. On day three while walking her, she was pulling like crazy. I snapped the leash and pulled her close to heel. She immediately did a backflip with a twist, slipped the collar and went bolting across a busy four-lane boulevard. She hit a passing car with a very loud thud. I was cringing thinking "damn, I've had this dog less than a week and she's already dead". My wife and kids witnessed the whole deal.

The car didn't even stop, but it did have a huge dent in the lower driver door. When the traffic cleared I see her on the other sidewalk looking at me with a "don't tell me what to do ever again" look. No injuries. Tough dog.

We have since reached a working arrangement.

Is that the front end 58 in the one shot?

It is.

Full disclosure: It's hardly a '58. Is really a Frankenstein bike I built out of parts over the last 25 years as I was teaching myself machining and engine building. '58 frame, fork, tin. Early '60s rolling stock. Shovel lower end with HD case replacement even more recent. S&S internals, STD heads, lots of home-made parts by me, modifications everywhere. I rode this bike hard around NYC and around the country for many years. It is now serving softer duty, as am I.

Mine came with a 283 w/camel hump heads & headers but it was running poorly. Turned out it had two dead cylinders and rebuilding a 283 thoroughly is more expensive than buying a 350 from Summit catalog.

I ended up putting the LQ4 in it with a mild cam. It's waay more power than I ever needed. Now if I stick my foot in it, it can't hook up. It's just too light in the rear - which is a good thing. I don't need tickets.

If mine still had the straight six in it like yours does I think I'd have kept it. EVERYone has an SBC and now everyone has an LS. Besides, ever since I saw this pic of a dressed 250 six I've been jonesing to make one look like it:

My shop dog is smaller than most of them here, but I like the smaller ones. He is a Lhasa Apso / Shih Tzu mix, who is equally happy in the house or in the shop. As with most all of my dogs over the years, he is a rescue that I got about 5 years ago, and was estimated to be around 5 years old at that time. I don't have many photos of him in the shop, but here is Sparky inspecting a job before it leaves to get installed.

Pooches past and present!

Shelby 13 when I made the tough decision to put her down. Wonderful brilliant animal, guarded my most precious boy. Could give two shits about me and my wife, but him she took to as her own. He crawled all over her and she let him do anything. Unfortunately not long after he was born she developed seizures and after a long 6 year fight with her meds, she gave all the tell tale signs of wanting to pass. I found her in the bottom of the cave on our property her last night with us, laying in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall. Over sharing I know, she was my first dog as an adult and loved her very much. Could literally see her thinking of how to get what she wanted.

After she passed, it didn't take long for me to realize how empty the house was without her. I was a night owl and she was my late night shenanigans companion.

3 months later I secured a spot with a breeder for a other husky... something about their demeanor and presence stuck with me.... Charlie is far more cantankerous but also more affectionate as well..... which suits me just fine. She is now 2.5 years old and wild but equally as smart as her predecessor...... maybe smarter. Her puppies demeanor hides her intelligence cause she can be an absolute goofball!

This is Mugsy.

Sweetest, softest... and dumbest boy ever. I never had or lived with a dumb dog before... he brings the lulz.

We adopted him when he was approx 3 years old. No real clue how old he is. Rough and ****** life before he was rescued. He came from Texas. He hates the snow.

Nothing but love for everything.

I really like Mugsy just because of your description and the way he closes his eyes and LOVES you touching him on the head. I am ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED that dogs know when they've been rescued from a bad life and try to show their appreciation for the rest of their lives. Try to live up to being the person he thinks you are!

NOT oversharing at all. I cried like a baby when I lost Sooner - my avatar blonde Lab. The very last thing he did when he was given the shot was lay his head on my knee as he was feeling sleepy. Chokes me up even now going on 10 years ago.

He could be touchy with strangers unless I was cool with them, then he was a door mat. Was a loving, dedicated to me in his soul friend. When the "Marley" movie was out people; especially kids, would scream, "Marley!" and run up to him and give him a bear hug. I was concerned he'd bite but he never did. He loved kids and especially infants. They fascinated him. Rest in Paradise my lifetime best friend!

Anybody who has owned Huskies (and I use that word loosely) knows you don't own Huskies. You coexist with them as part of their pack :sneaky:

True of a lot more dogs than just Huskies. But also personality dependent.

I have a little poodle (I don't know when I went from young man w/big dogs to stereotypical old guy with little dog) and he is totally devoted to me. When he's being over-the-top devoted I sometimes mockingly voice him saying, "My LIFE for you, Master!" like in the Stephen King movie of "The Stand".

I don't have a pic of my current pups in the shop, but I do have one of my old dog, she has crossed the rainbow bridge, I do miss you Recon you big goof.

1664544430935.png

Remington is still with me, but not a real fan of the shop. He likes his cushy ways.

1664544358922.png

My new big girl, willow, is still not too sure about the shop, so many new things. One thing we do know is she does not care for Federal 243.

Goofy girl just loves boxes.
