Let's See Your Garage Dog

Took me a while to post these. This is Duke, who unfortunately passed over the Rainbow Bridge a couple months ago at 11.5 yrs old.
He was a phenomenal friend and the most well behaved dog I have ever been around. We could leave him out front unattended and he would just lay in the yard and watch dogs and cats pass by and would never get up or try to chase them. Over the years, he helped us foster 3 other German Shepherds, teaching them household manners and how to socialize with other dogs. He loved to help with yard work and was a great assistant in breaking down sticks for the green waste. RIP brother.

This is the best I can do. Our wimpy dachshund doesn't like hanging out here. This one sat on the hood of my dad's pickup for years and never complained.

Here's our chocolate lab, Charlie, who came to us a couple of years after we lost our previous companion.
He's turned into a great dog, loves people, loves balls, loves the beach, loves nature walks - loves to be alive.

Dogs are great.

Oak & Range, two closely related working Aussies. We can call them garage dogs as they are okay with the garage, but they‘ll run for the hills if they see me walking even towards the shop. They’re not fond of the sounds that come from that awful place.

The neighbor's 14 year old blonde Lab has to come over and investigate if there is noise coming from the compressor or tools in my garage. Dad is working out of town, so I guess he's just filling in for him The two have been best buds since mine was a pup 10 years ago...

It's interesting that some dog seem to truly have "friends" and others REALLY don't like one or more other dogs right from the get go.

My adopted-in-Spring dog Fifi (the larger white labradoodle that has NO Lab in her at all) is less than 2 years old. Full of youthful energy and a very affectionate dog just loves loves, loves our nephew's 11 year old border collie/aussie mix, Marlo. And he loves her just as much. Sometimes they play like they're both pups and other times they just lay together resting.

Nephew & Marlo live about 125 miles away in Santa Barbara, CA but he says he HAS TO come down every few weeks because Marlo wants to see his girl! Here they are with my 14+ year old miniature poodle, Joey and 5 or 6 year old brainiac, Max. He's a born-to-yap dog but also a smart little critter!

Yep. The old blonde Lab in my picture is in his "twilight years". At home at the neighbors, he's slow, has trouble with steps, getting up and down. When he comes over to my place and sees his buddy, he trots around and acts like a pup. Really something to see.

^^^ Kills me to hear about any dog nearing their late years. My lifetime best friend, Sooner (my avatar) has been gone about 8 years now I think. I still speak about him daily. Best dog I've ever had but truly they're all good dogs. Some just imprint on your heart a little stronger. He passed at 11-1/2 due to cancer. I was sitting on the floor petting him and the very last thing he did when he felt himself falling asleep was to put his head down on my leg. Chokes me up to this day to think of it. Rest in Paradise my boy!

My ********* went to a dog beach today in Santa Barbara. They LOVED it. None of them has ever been to a beach before that I know.

Even Joey the 14+ year old little foo-foo lap dog got into it. He was running in the water's edge - surprising. Max, the miniature brainiac walked pretty much right next to me until a fragrant dog **** came by. Fifi, the non-Labradoodle ran full speed ALL afternoon. In the water up to her belly, though no swimming. Even went very far away following other dogs but came running back full speed. We didn't train her to do that so I think she's just a very good dog!

Here is my Sandy Lou. She's a stumpy tailed Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler). Best sweetie ever! She's a bit on the chonky side, but she was a rescue animal and arrived that way.

She's lovely, but still nutty as a box of frogs. Gave her a brush today and ended up with a pile of hair big enough to stuff a pillow.
We've had her 7 months now.
