Well, no-one's commented on whether I should refurbish the box or not so I started tonight.
Just got a couple of the metal corner strengtheners off before the light went.
Tough little screws with years of varnish or something over the slots.
More pics when I finish the job.

Brookesy, love that 3/8 flexi...
I'm still after a decent 1/4, broke three so far. I think I need to put out for decent quality - or move up a size to undo certain bolts.

My best deal recently was an 8 piece set of Snap On screwdrivers (new in package).
$55 shipping included, nobody else even bid on them. (Snap On website lists them at $123.25)

Other recent purchases include, Snap On long handle needle nose pliers, Proto 3/8" drive spin flex ratchet, Channel Lock micro champ needle nose pliers, and Blue Point hose clamp pliers.

nice job on the screwdrivers, I was bidding on the proto ratchet but didn't know the quality so quit early. Does it look decent? Fatfillup

It says Super Pros and it looks like it might have said more but it is faded:headscrat. I don't think this was an actual set, just one that was put together by someone. I thought it was cool though, and the price was good for me.

I don't have a clue as to the brand. Didn't need it, but had to buy it. Maybe someone knows the maker? Has no name anywhere! It's 20-1/2" long 7/8" socket appears to have been made on it from the casting lines not totally ground off smooth-not sure? Patent date March 30.,20. You guys take a look, tell me your thoughts. Took as many pics as I could.
Thanks

I need some reassurance from you guys. I bought some cornwell extensions - potentially my FIRST EVER cornwell tools.

Anyway, the seller has 0 feedback, and is asking $10 extra for insurance. I'm thinking he's charging a prohibitively high insurance fee so that later, when I don't get the extensions, he'll just say "well, you should have paid for insurance"

Well, hopefully I get them

After all that worrying, I got my first ever Cornwell (sort of) tools. I say that because the actual locking mechanism is the same as another NON-Cornwell extension (patent #4480511-4768405). I'm uncertain about the original manufacturer, maybe Allen.
I thought the locking part was interchangeable by removing a set screw, but this one has a roll pin that goes all the way through the extension, so I won't be able to transfer it to another extension.

I have been watching eBay a lot lately for good deals on some tools in my most wanted list and got some of my very top wants.

First is the Plomb #100 pocket screwdriver, these where hitting close to $100 for awhile so I backed off and waited. I snagged this one for under $20 shipped:
plomb.100.jpg

At the moment I am focusing on Plomb WF items for the most part and found the WF-8 9/32" ratchet cheap:
plomb.wf-8.jpg

The ratchet is really smooth in one direction, put the other needs some work. I opened it up and I think that one of springs is a little to compressed or weak.

This is by far the best. I have been wanting these for several years now. They first show in the "whats new" catalog supplement #5529 for the 1954 catalog. Retail price was $4.95 for the pliers and sheath kit.

LOVE the yellow hard handled Snap-on stuff!

+1. I think yellow and red are the best looking colors SO offered in the hard handles. Of course black will always be classic.
