How do the Granco's compare to the truck brands? I've got a set of Granco SAE flare/box combo wrenches. They're really nice with thick, heavy beams and fat box ends. Not too good for low clearance applications, but very nice none the less. Are the sockets really thick walled?

As for me, I've been busy digging a hole with my paypal account! I have recently assumed ownership of:

A mostly SK set of 3/4" drive sockets(all are good brands, just not a matched set).

A empty Snap-on burr bit index. I already have one and needed another. to tell the truth I still need another one.

A Snap-on 1/2" drive SN4B flex head speeder. I don't know what I'll use it on, but I've always thought they were kewl!

A set of Blue Point SAE Combo wrenches 3/8" through 7/8". These are the US made ones before production was shifted to Taiwan. Pretty nice wrenches with the same profile and feel of a Snap-on. This set matches my 8-19mm set.

A Lisle stud installer/remover set #71000. These are discontinued and my first set was missing a much needed piece. Picked 'em up cheap!

A set of three Blue Point hose clamp pliers. This is one tool I just never bought and should have waaaaaaaaay before now. I always cussed myself for not having this type of tool. Now I have to find something else to ***** about.

I honestly cant do a comparison with any truck brands because I can't afford them, never owned them. they are better than my craftsman sockets for sure. and they appear to be very high quality with a no frills approach. I'm very satisfied with them.

I collect Truecraft tools and scored this lot about two years ago:

I'd never seen a wobble ratchet until now. And the 3/8" driver pivots 90 degrees:

The sockets have the retainer balls in the socket walls and they were in new condition:

They came in these cigar box styled cases and they were in rough shape:

The 1/4" set above has a clone of the old Proto style ratchet.

The grand total? $0.99 plus about $15 shipping. I was the lone bidder. So not my most recent Ebay purchase but definitely one of my best scores.

I remember seeing the cigar box Truecraft 2000 stuff when the Cummins Tool gypsies would come around probably ten or twelve years ago and they wanted almost retail for the stuff, but I knew it was nice stuff. When I came across the listing on eBay, there was only one pic in the listing and not a good one at that but I knew I had to have those tools and took a chance. I won the auction for 99 cents, paid the man and hoped for the best. When I saw the boxes, I expected the worst. But when I opened them, it was like Christmas! Most of the sockets were unused and only two or three missing. Happily, all the retainer sockets were there. Needless to say, the seller received glowing feedback. The boxes:

Yes sir, all made in Japan. Most Truecraft stuff was although I have some from Thailand and the USA too.

I was gone for the holidays and just got home today and here was what Santa left me from here and ebay, and I will on tuesday go to the classifieds and leave credit where I need to. Santa left me an slf80(over 24 inches), fk80 (stubby dual 80) and a fx80, all three look new and the tl936, is also great and looks new. They are all like new, now I am waiting for my wera and I am good to go.

Good call on the sockets; they're called "nut grip" sockets. The 1/4" ratchet, too looks like Ko-Ken. But it still looks like a knock-off of a Proto.

Man, I've learned quite a bit recently about Truecraft with the SEK and Ko-Ken outsourcing.

Is there anything i can do with the handles as they have seen better days.

Also if take the handles off is it the same underneath as the normal non hard handled snap on ratchets?

No, they're similar to this:

You can get a screwdriver, pull the shank and drill out the handle and transplant it if you want.

Yeah, I don't get Ebay sometimes. You'll look for months for an item and never see one and then, all at once, there are several. I probably watched five or six in December and finally decided to bid on one. Neat tool.
