I work on ARCA and USAR Pro-Cup series circle track cars, so my tool set is a little more eclectic than most other guys setups..
Drawers take too long to open to get tools. Everything is open and ready to grab on the go. The cart is a kitchen cart that my great grandmother's paid servant used to serve dinner on, around 1890.
Also its easy to pack up all my tools to go on the road in my portable husky 14" toolbag(packed very full).

Hi Master - after 19 pages of tool carts - yours gets my vote for "Best Tool Cart Possible". Really great to have something like that - which is still usable today. An amazing piece and wonderful that you can have it with you every day.

Thanks for sharing..

I have a couple, my blue-point needs to actually be loaded, it is just collecting stuff on it right now. Has anyone taken the top off of a cart like the blue-point one? I don't think I can shut it, at least not without using it as a table, then I would have to unload it to open it up! I am the only one in my personal shop so theft isn't an issue. Can anyone else think of a good reason not to remove it? I feel the lid will get in the way once I get to using it under/near the lift.

The cart with all the bins is really a neat tool. It has a nice metal top so you can use it for a work surface. I am an all swivel wheel guy, so I change out casters as needed. I bought this for $5 at junk dealer. They are like $500 from McMaster Carr.

I also have a couple of crafstman plastic carts, they are OK, I tend to overload things, so I am going to upgrade to a steel cart sooner or later.

Anyone got a picture of a custom cart using a normal box top? I'm considering taking a KRA-58C I have, and making a stand to put it on with a small side shelf. Just curious if anyone has dome similar. The only thing I saw in this thread was a HF cart with a Craftsman mid box added.

I just picked up a US General 4 drawer tonight for $99 using a supercoupon! I'm pretty happy with it. It's no Snap-on KRL, but it's a pretty solid cart and a great deal for the money. I plan on using this for bodywork and paint, since the paint booth is ~400ft away in an adjacent building.

Some basics, just to handle air line adjustments and stuff.

I'll bring the D/As and paint gun in the top, they will live in the big box until I'm ready for them.

I made this little shelf for holding sheet sandpaper in the side.

Okay, I've finally got mine to where it's about worthy of being shared:

Overall:
cart_overall.jpg

Screwdrivers:
cart_drivers.jpg

Pliers & Strippers:
cart_strippers.jpg

Tap & Tie Wrap Stuff:
cart_topdrawers.jpg

Ratchets, Sockets, and a few QuadBoxes:
cart_middledrawer.jpg

Junk Drawer (because someone will demand a pic anyway):
cart_bottomdrawer.jpg

And yes, five of those strippers cover the same ranges of wires, but the rest are unique. I figure if someone can have 3 dozen identical screwdrivers in different colors, I can collect strippers. That paper on the top right is a wire ampacity chart.

Tell me about the hex bit sockets Please.

Jason

Sure.

Wiha Item # 77198, "Long Bit Sockets", 22 Piece Set, 1/4" Drive, Combination Hex & Torx

http://www.wihatools.com/700seri/771sockets.htm

Hex: 3/32, 7/64, 1/8, 9/64, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, 1/4
Hex: 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6mm
Torx: T8, T9, T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30, T40

They work fine; each is on a 1/4" hex shaft, with a standard (I guess) shoulder of the appropriate bit. There is a set screw to tighten the shaft in the socket when it works its way loose. I have to get to recessed hex bolts quite often, and I don't like the rounded tips - they strip out soft metal easily, and getting directly in line with the bolt is never a problem for me.

The Mac cart I keep at work and the welding cart I built for home use. The last one is a roll out workbench I built, it's got some storage so I guess it's a cart. Usually it's just a shelf though.
