Notch, did the previous owner drop that cart off a cliff before giving it to you?!

:spit:

Its seen it's fair share of abuse. I'd like to upgrade someday, but first have to fill it with tools before I can get a new one.

This is an extra tool kit I use as a set for going on breakdowns or to fix something small at someone's home.

Wow! Most of your carts are bigger than my toolbox! Saying I am jealous is a complete understatement...

Regarding the Cornwell and Matco Service Carts... Can anyone tell me where to get the black plastic corner bumpers that the Cornwell and Matco carts come with? They are the vertical 90 degree strips that are on each corner...

Thanks!

Heres my cart. I got it second hand, and it seems to be a HF style cart. Either way, it gets the job done for now.

I always feel as though I'm really lacking in tools for what I use them for, but I'm happy with what I've got so far.

With all the warping of the steel looks like it was in a fire or close to one is my guess. Looks like paint on front started to peel.

Actually, it's a built in feature. Once you've had enough beers to make the warped steel appear straight again, you're ready to conduct your servicing.

I posted on page 13...so it's been a little while. Guess I'll give it the ol' bump.

Two years ago I posted pictures of my new 'paint' cart (Post 72).

It's evolved into Paint Central.
RollEnd.jpg

The shelving top is in two pieces and just locks in place. It makes a great paint mixing spot and the gun holder/filler bracket is stable.

My most frequently used guns and air brushes in the single drawer, along with regulators and cotton gloves. The tissue holder works great for keeping a box of latex gloves handy. I've had the gloves for years but I'd forget where they were so I rarely used them.

My project car is in the middle bay of the 3-car garage so lighting on the sides is really poor. The two 24-inch fluorescent fixtures help quite a bit. At least there are fewer shadows.

Air sanders and buffers and the most frequently used electric buffer hang on the ends, along with sandpaper rolls and tape. Boxes of scuffing pads, sandpaper and dust masks fill the bottom, along with the metal polishing supplies. This stuff used to be stored in different places all over the garage and now it's all in one place. My searches for the roll of 400-grit PSA paper have gone from many minutes to no time at all. I hang a few disposable brushes on the back corner for the fiberglass projects.

The white boards can be removed from the top, giving access to the top tray of the cart. I keep the spray gun box in there along with a couple of used-up dryer/filters (just to remind me never to buy them again).

It's a HF one. I bought it a few years ago...not sure what they offer now.

I have no way of checking how accurate it is though...I'd like to get a NICE one. Might have to start looking around.

It's served me well for the past few years though doing my vehicles, and a few family and friends' as well.

Here's my shop cart. It's made by Equipto (according to the name on the side). I got it from a scrap yard, after they got in a load from a machine shop that closed up.

I paid about $25.I have no idea what they usually go for but I figure it was a steal. It was all greasy and painted yellow and beat pretty bad. I cleaned it up and painted it to match my mustang.

Dear Friends at GJ,
We saw an ad on CL that said Tool Cart with Vise. The vise looked like a REED 1C so we went to look at the vise. I didn't need a cart. The vise looked good so we bought it. I was expecting to save the wheels and throw out the cart until I started to look at the cart and realized what a nice cart it was. The cart must be in the running for the world's heaviest cart. It weighs 438 pounds!! The drawers have 3/4 dia X 1inch rollers. The top surface is at least 1/4 plate. Has anyone seen one like this before??
Greg
This is a before picture, you can see all the paint we sanded off on the floor.

The cart is made out of angle iron & steel plate. We cleaned it, sanded it for an hour or two and painted it. The casters are 5 inch dia steel casters.

Travis, It looked horrible before we put the stickers on. With no chrome, no handles, no nameplates, etc it was too big, too flat and plain. So we put the stickers on to liven it up a little.

Connecticut - not sure why though...
You guys may get a kick out of this one. I came across a free tea service cart made of wrought iron, to I turned it into a tool cart using nothing but scrap metal that was in my scrap pile. I also cannibalized a 3 drawer craftsman tool box that was broken for the drawers.

So all in all, I have no money into this, just some time.

ventursomerite - That tool cart looks extremly useful! I always say "free is cheap enough!"

The price WAS right! Nobody messes with a tea cart!

I was trying to eliminate running back and forth to tool boxes or the peg board when working on a motorycle. I still need to add a spray rack for pb blaster and such, and figure out what to put on the bottom.

Nothing too crazy and not too many quality tools but I'm just a DIYer, so it gets the job done.
