Gee, after looking at your tool boxes and carts, I'm almost embarrassed to put this one on. Its in nice condition with no major scratches. I'm going to clean it up and list it on Ebay this Spring.

Here's my shop cart. It's made by Equipto (according to the name on the side). I got it from a scrap yard, after they got in a load from a machine shop that closed up.

I paid about $25.I have no idea what they usually go for but I figure it was a steal. It was all greasy and painted yellow and beat pretty bad. I cleaned it up and painted it to match my mustang.

Great looking cart!

Took some snappies of my HF Service Cart...

I actually use my service cart as a... service cart, e.g. for servicing machinery. Imagine that. LoL! :D

==========

You might find this interesting. Seen many posts comparing the HF 4-Drawer & 5-Drawer carts - but, no side-by-side pics.

Here's my "modern" HF 5-Drawer (#95272) sitting next to a "seasoned" HF 4-Drawer (#95659). Notice any difference(s)?

side-by-side( 95272-95659).png

Here's the top tray. Nothing special. Sockets, extensions, screwdrivers, stubbys, some fasteners and a candy box.

top-tray.png

Here's the candy box. Just some commonly-used goodies I carry around, to save me some walking.

candybox.png

Here's the top-right drawer. Deep and clean - the functional equivalent of a purse (for guys). LoL!

top-right.png

Here's the upper-top-left drawer. It's my SAE wrench drawer. Combos, GearWrenches, Proto box-end, Klein 15/16, etc.

top-left.png

Here's the lower-top-left drawer. It's my METRIC drawer. Combos, GearWrenches , ancient Gedore SAE box-ends.

top-left-2.png

Here's the middle drawer. Just the necessities. BTW, I L-O-V-E that 1/2" air drill (#7528) - best HF tool I ever bought!

middle.png

And, lastly, the bottom drawer. LoL!

bottom.png

It looks spartan, but I just keep stuff in my roller that I *need*. If you'll pardon the pun, it's pushing 300 lbs, as is.

If I need to do major repairs, I got a wall full of tools available - load 'em in the cart, and I'm off to the races... ;)

VinDSL,

What are you using for drawer liners?

Where did you get this material?

Have you noticed any problems with this material?

BTW, I have the same 5-drawer service cart and love it. I try to keep the tool inventory down to the bare minimum, but find have to remove extra tools that creep onto the cart about once a month.

That material is an artificial cork. It's thin, grips really well, and is tough as nails.

I get it out of the trash bins at work, before it goes to the dumpster. I have an unlimited supply. LoL!

They use it between stacks of 2-ton items, from incoming semi trucks, to keep the loads from shifting in transit.

Best drawer liner I've ever seen!

I hear ya!

All I want in my cart is things that I need, and nothing that I don't need... ;)

I have a 2-shelf cheapie that I mounted flourescent fixtures to. This gives me more might from the side from body work, painting, polsihing and even engine work (engine out).

Funny that I should see this. We have two old light fixtures kicking around and I was thinking of doing something similar. I'd like to make one somewhat portable though for working under equipment and big trucks.. Thanks!

I have absolutely loved this thread, and it's made me dream of owning a
service cart, however I for my needs I wanted to get something specific.

I wanted to get a cart that I could use as a mobile table, so flip up tops were
out of the question as well as high handles and deep trays on the top. Also
just one or two drawers to keep it slim and maximise bottom tray height. I am
also just an amateur so low cost was also something I wanted.

Then just a few days ago I won this on ebay, Brand New for just £60. It could
have been built just for me, exactly what I wanted. I assembled it yesterday
and the build quality is great, It even has roller bearing drawers.....
One very happy GJer....

Rico, that looks like a nice piece. I have to ask where that cart was built. The badge reads "U.S. Pro Tools" but at that price, all we get is Chinese made stuff. Harbor Freight's "US General" brand, for example...

This is just a matter of curiosity - no political or even economic sentiments implied.

I think it was named for irony.... As is U.S General. My guess is that it's never
seen the western hemisphere and would probably be on par with the Harbour
Freight stuff. I don't actually know the COO as it's not stamped anywhere on
the box it came in or the cart itself... It is however CE marked, which means it
reaches European quality standards and it does feel remarkably well built...
I was surprised how nice it is, and how nice the drawers work.

I have installed the handle on mine on the other side and put it on the other
way up, so I can carry or work with long items on it. I'm quite chuffed with it. :)

edit... I'll let you know in a couple of months after it collapses under it's own weight...

Nice cart!

I've run into this "problem", if you will, with my HF 5-drawer service cart -- no place to set stuff, e.g. no mobile table.

I work on some horribly greasy, rusty, equipment, and don't want to set it (or my grimy tools) in the upper tray (which is clean enough to eat from). LoL!

Sooo... I'm checking into an appropriate, collapsible side shelf. I'm just trying to decide on a color (will probably go with black). Like this:

Anyway, nice cart, you got there!

Hey Vin,

That side tray seems like a good solution, and getting it in black would really
hide the oil and grease marks. Is it possible for you to maybe line the top tray
you have with something like rubber matting. That would protect the paint from
oil and scratches, and save you a few quid...

Yes, I already have it lined with rubber matting -- sort of an imitation cork.

Hrm...

I suppose I could bend some thin aluminum plate in a break, and make a removable table/shelf for the top tray (and cover it in rubber matting). It would probably give the same workable area as the side shelf.

That might work...

Good idea! Thanks! ;)

This is my new KRSC46 that just came in today. Very happy with the construction of it. Been working out of a Blue Point 115pc. set for 2 years and finally took the plunge, best decision I could have made.

The socket-logic organizers are awesome! fits 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drives. Hard to tell, but they are really tall, they are about 3 1/2". Have standard and metric ratcheting combo wrenches on order for the other half of the wrench drawer, which have measured and fit perfectly. Also have 1/2" drive sockets on order and many other tools to fill this huge "roll around" cart. Very happy with it, will have to see after the total bill hits me. Nah, its worth it.

Also have a Harmin/Kardon computer sound system that I will put in later for tunes. Gotta be rockin' while your wrenchin'!

looks like us in the uk are going to be able to get the same cart as the harbor freight 5 drawer cart
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-ctt320-heavy-duty-tool-parts-trolley
cant wait to get my hands on one :D

I agree, it would be nice to be able to get that cart, but £300 is an absolute joke.
That equates to about $480 U.S Dollars. They are on sale right now for $200 and
can be picked up for about $150 with a coupon. That is less than £100.

Machine Mart are ripping the **** out of these and there is no way on Earth I would
pay £300 for it. Maybe £120 sounds about right. But for the time being they can
go and swivel high on a stick.

I absolutely love my Mac 1305UC. Best feature is the dual action sliding/lifting top. Everyone invariably put stuff on the top of their cart. With the 1305, you can at least slide the top back to get access to most things. I've since also added a Mac MB89 for parts/nuts&bolts storage which doing a project. That helps keep the top of my 1305 clear.

Picts of my cart here (earlier in this thread): http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1381713&postcount=195

Just picked this Cornwell up on Craigslist.... $80 delivered to me. :)

Gonna set it up for a welding cart eventually.

P.S. The baby was part of a different transaction...
