Ok, very nice. Grease fittings, sweet. Good to know you like it.
Ah what a burn. So basically when they're gone, they're gone for good? haha oh ok cool. I guess I meant to say most as I did see a couple chrome but no way to see the ones on the cart that I can't see lol. Do you prefer handles or chrome? (even in summer when temp is not a factor)

I prefer the comfort handles, especially in the long 3/8 drive and all 1/2 drive. Anywhere where space isn't an issue.

I like how you color-coded your sockets and combination wrenches. Is there a color standard that you followed kinda like the color-coding on nutdrivers?

yup, used the same color code as nut drivers, just repeated it. Pretty easy to distinguish between the sizes.

I have a cart or 2 I am stripping out, dont need every size of every set on it, if I regular use 2 sockets from a set I have those 2 and put the rest out of the way in another cab, willing to walk for something I use once a week but I function on the stuff I have hi duty cycle with, I use a 9/16 about 50 times, maybe more for every 16MM.

Ok,,,, that I like, I can see you stripped some of the common hand tools to essentials, I like the pliers drawer. For a one man band this is ideal. In fact this is one of the best I have seen for looking like its workwise.

I could move right in to the hand tool cart and never miss a beat. Its better than mine. Only real change I can even see as gaining any ground might be to make a hanger for the big pliers and tossing a few wrenches to the side I really didnt use even if it means breakiing up a set. You are a poster child for not having everything they ever invent.

I got to wonder sometimes,, a guy, long term mechanic been off work for 2 years and buys a 5pc wrench set with a unique angle for 150$ he will use one of on occasion that could have been fashioned from a HF wrench and vise with cheater pipe.

Anyone think this investment will prove out in the next 10 yrs by improving his flat rate speed if and when he does manage to get a job or keep it.

I can buy the reasoning of I just want it, that I understand but the argument for payback is no way no how.

Too much can be a problem, it can create a sorting mess at every turn. We dont do much in sets, I am working on another version of this yet. We have a cart for ratchets, exts and a few metric wrenches can be wheeled in to either bay from where it sits, the rest can be reached. Been since modified with rack for SAE wrenches.

My five drawer Harbor Frieght service cart. I use it everyday in a heavy truck shop. It's not the best but for the money I love it.

I really need to organize my ratchets, extensions and accessories. Any suggestions?

Here's a tool cart I made from a projector stand I bought at a garage sale for $5 and a little end table with a drawer and broken legs that was lying around. It still needs to be outfitted.

I bought some old projector carts, too. They make excellent carts for projects. They are U.S. made, constructed of welded steel, have very high quality rollers, and some of mine have electrical receptacles built in.

Those project carts would make a great flash programing cart. You have power a spot for laptop and a place for power supply and battery supply.

I really like some of these more simple cheaper versions. Truchmech here has it right. One of my best friends is top auto mechanic in town, got some cheap Stackon boxes or whatever they are that he puts stuff in he doesnt use and the high use on a service cart he paid about 150 or so 20 yrs ago, bought about 2 little socket sets and a dozen wrenches since I know him. He has no adversion to buying something he needs but no obsession to stuff some big boxes full of hardline stuff he doesnt.

We are in a market where new cars would get dealer serviced or real problems handled by them on occasion but cars are a bit older, we never invest in all that electronic ****, a simple code reader and some ability to figure our way thru most problems with a little effort, could care less about all that stuff. 99.5% of our problems are a bit different version of the same issues that go round and round up and down that always been on cars except,,,,, for the FACT that they are made so much better today than they ever have been, a tune of of plugs at 100K, wiring harnesses so far superior, electronic engine manegement a Godsend

My pickup, 20+ years old,,, had some fuel pump issues when new that have been solved over time and a faulty selector switch but 1 or 2 fuel filters and not so much as a fart wrong with the rest of the fuel system, about 3 or 4 sets of spark plugs in that time, I might have put a set of wires on,, I did reman the engine but stuck all the rest right back on with minial service like a tinker toy set, still runs great, cab rotting off, in this time wheels been off dozens of times brakes adjust etc but in my small fleet and a few customers for standard brake type work I couldnt make 10 cents buying all the stuff.

My helper,,, trying to figure out wtf with his car on a micro level, the POS wasnt worth the trouble shoot time of a real technition, my 12 yr old Caddy has a bunch of those lights on, we read it clear it after a while they back on, dont give a **** after a while, same for my 91 pickup, about a year or 2 into that I figure out whats up and tape over the light and been done with it. Its always had a knock sensor problem, after I get a grip on that run 89 fuel in it and call it a day, fix all its engine issues it ever had including some failure due to knock requiring a reman,,, all fixed for a dime a gallon on 3$ gas, cheap.

Fords had great fuel inj but ****** knock sensor, just up the fuel and it went away.

As they say, if you bought it right it is half sold already, some of these carts with some addition like a 40$ set of drawers are making money the day they are rigged. They make it 95% easier, the rest is like the high school swim team shaving body hair off. Give me the worlds best cart to shave 3 minutes a day off while making a 100$ payment on is not worth it to me.

I know a lot of real masters do not fuss much over their tools. They are a simple matter of fact and a lot of their daily users they have for years. My electrician bud has collected some other specialty stuff but probably hasnt bought more than a handful of hand tools since he was apprentice.

Was getting ready to get the red HF when I saw this on CL. Can't believe how heavy duty these are in comparison.

Where did you get those magnets that you're using on the cover of your cart? I've been looking for magnetic tool holders for my cart, but the only ones I've found are made to be mounted on a wall, so they aren't magnetic on both sides.

Rather than start a new thread. Here is my work tool cart "wire tuck". It's a standard HF red 5-drawer tool cart. The alignment sucked when putting it together, but it serves its goal for work.

We have to have an HMI (PLC computer controller) that stayed in the cart as well as store some tools and parts. Onto the pictures:
