I have the same cart and want to replace the casters, or at least replace the two fixed casters. Did you have to redrill the bottom shelf, or were you able to find casters that fit the hole pattern?

I might have found some that fit without drilling, but they cost as much as the cart itself!

Had to redrill. Found some wider wheels at a garage sale for cheap.

The mb1300 slide back and can also lift up with a small storage tray built into the top. My only gripe is that the top only goes back 3/4 of the way leaving whatever is in the back of the top section inaccessable until you lift the top. The locking system is good since the lid and the drawers are latched by the key only, just like on a roll cab instead of having to slide some cheesy latch side to side, and as far as I know this is the only cart that latches like this.

Hey, does that sweet looking silver Matco cart have holes for prybars and screwdrivers? I think that thing looks awesome. I might be in love.

Does anyone have KR488 ? I have always like the looks of these

Where they made in the USA?

I would like to find one (this isn't mine)

Like Krusty, I don't need drawers in mine or the ability to lock it, for me, just something to work from during a job and then everything gets cleaned and put away in my toolbox.

This is my cart. It's a Harbor Freight three shelfer with the center shelf removed and a Craftsman 4 drawer mid box installed. I added a piece of 3/4 plywood to the base for additional strength and installed better/wider wheels.

IMG_1318.jpg

This is awesome. I have the same cart and liked the idea so much that I bought a Craftsman middle cabinet just so I could mimic what you have done. I also liked the thought of a cool project :)

The timing is also perfect, because I was needing something to hold my engine building tools and was going to use the cart to "hold" parts and pieces during the build and assembly process.

This solution combined two needs. Thanks

I have a black one. Picked it up back around 2000. Been in storage more than half its life. Are you interested in it? It breaks down pretty easily, so might not be too bad to ship.

Thanks! I'm glad my project was able to halp you out with yours! I used to have a Matco cart but it was a bit too big for my small garage. This one is working out extremely well.

Wellstig1,
I like that mb1300. Toss up right now between the mb1300 and the Matco msc12.

Doing a side job next week that will net $1400 so that will pay for the cart. 8 hours of work and I get a cart. Only in America.

Well scratch that last idea.

Was laying down on the couch and dropped something under the couch. Felt something move inside the couch. NOT GOOD! Look around and sure enough, behind the tv is mouse droppings.

Wife goes nuts, so I through away the couch. 3 years old. Didn't like it anyway but now its a lot of drama. Gotta go buy new furniture for the family room and she wants new carpet. So my cart is out the window as the funds are going to the family room.

Plus, gotta get terminix in here to figure out where they are and how they are getting in etc...

I already have two dogs. Not sure a cat will mix well. Plus, the cat litter stuff.

Does it really help with mice though?

I also really like the MB190, been using it in the home garage for about 2 years so far. Heres a KRSC40 I got used about a year ago for $1050. Its been really nice to have.

But I decided on getting the MB1300 new for $1250. They do list at a rediculous $1750. Actually its MB1305 now. Thanks for the pics everyone!! Heres mine. I do auto glass and they like me working in the shop instead of going mobile.

HF4Drawertoolcart.jpg

Both are great carts will ball bearing drawers . I was at sears today just looking at boxes killing time ( and grabbing the 10 piece gearwrench ratcheting wrench sets for $49.99 each :D ) . I was truly upset that the drawers on ALL of their boxes felt like **** compared to these 2 carts .

Dont forget your 20% off coupon :D.

My bud gave a couple wood ones, wasn't sure they would hang in there but it took about a day for them to find a home. Added a telescoping light to the second one.

I have a 2-shelf cheapie that I mounted flourescent fixtures to. This gives me more might from the side from body work, painting, polsihing and even engine work (engine out).
e-tek,
Your idea inspired me. I've been working on my Vette, getting ready to paint it and there's never enough light on the side of the car. I replaced the two TV carts in my garage with the HF one-drawer cart.
ServiceCart1.jpg

Added two 2-tube 24-inch fixtures. The big ones would have been cheaper but I just don't have the space. Also added the outlet and switch.
ServiceCart2.jpg

As I was about to bolt the spray gun stand to the cart, I noticed I had a 6-foot piece of pressboard shelving. Cut it up so it drops in securely but can be removed easily so the top tray is still storage space. When the paint job is finished the worktop can go away.

i have used this since 1994.....

http://www.mactools.com/product/tabid/120/p-319324-mb6uc.aspx

my toolbox has drawers, all i need is a place to work off of. IIRC it was $120 when i bought it!

I used that same cart for over 10 years! When I was recently out of work I loaded the top down with about 8 boxes of tile in the garage. I went to move the cart and the wheels caught on a big crack on the concrete floor in the garage and the weight on the top caused one of the legs to break clean off. ***** cause it's a great cart. I drilled out some extra holes for screwsdrivers on the handle. I never added drawers to mine. I should see if the legs are avail. as parts.

Pics of the current carts hanging around in the KITCHEN of all places. Further proof that I have the best wife ever! Not only is she kinda cute (see avitar), she feels bad that my garage is too small and cold in the winter, so basicaly she has let me take over the entire eating area of the recently remodeled kitchen and to use as a workroom to organize the recent toolbox horde. Though I am now in charge of cleaning it. You can see how that is going.

So here we go.

Green SO cart. Nice and cleaned up to really nice shape minus the rust on the bottom of the top section. A great score @ $60.

HF black cart $75 on sale. I love it for the great value it is. Quality wise it is somewhere between the newer green one and the older red one. It's a keeper.

Orange painted Kennedy. I think this is the best design of them all. Solid no frills box made to last. Kind of like polish woman. $50

An old SO one I picked up with some other stuff. Lock is missing and its pretty beat up. It has some style though.....don't you think?

this has been my work box for the last couple years. I have been really happy with it. It will be replaced next mon by a KRL722. So it will be coming home and going up for sale.

I made this one out of an old gas grill that died. Don't have any recent pics right now but the bottom was repainted black. I put some mdf across the bottom where the tank and such would go to form a nice storage area. Some mdf, angle brackets, and scrap stainless piece form the top. A drawer has since filled the gap where the controls once were. The wire racks on the sides act as good can holders for lubes and such. Casters are kinda junky but I don't move it that often. It's mostly used for work space rather than tool storage.
