I kept forgetting to take pictures of my 'extras' toolbox. The box itself is a Tru-Test from my dad, probably 40 years old by now. I also have a hip-roof version that is missing the tray, and is storing my old tools.
Some of the tools are his, some are mine, and some are just duplicates like the nutdrivers.
I don't have room in my main toolbox so these are in the back room.
The red socket set (1/4) is as old as the toolbox and is also a Tru-Test. Surprisingly it is only missing 2 sockets! The matching 3/8 set is in my toolbox and I use it often. I've had the 2 folding rules forever, both were given to me by family and say MOSS inside when you extend the brass piece.

Yeah, it's a 2 piece door that closes the hutch (again, I prefer SO's door). The upper piece flips up as you can see. The lower part hinges and opens into the hutch similar to SO. You can see the hinges in the pic, hard to see the actual door. I guess the only real disadvantage to this setup is I can't have an attic box like my buddies Epiq which I'd absolutely LOVE to have. I have entirely too much ****. 84" cab, 30" deep...and I feel like I need at least that much more sometimes...

Nice setup! Everytime I see a hutch like that on a triple-bank I wish I had one instead of the drawers (even though I need the storage).

Well, so far my SO Classic 78 is working out VERY well! I will have to post more pics---- though I must warn viewers, I use ALOT of peg board, so be forewarned! This is just used in a personal (SMALL) garage setting, so everything is well organized, but things are TIGHT! Once I get a mini fridge in there, I will be set! :)

Keep posting pics of the boxes... those green ones are amazing!

lennox, nice box. My son thinks I should get the green drawer liners for my box's. Won't that be too bright or show the liner more then tools? Maybe I'm just use to the std black liners? Anybody use the green or other non-black liner and have pics?

Here is my Snap-On KRL1023 in royal blue. I know, bad pic. I need to set up the scaffold and change out some bad light tubes. That would be about 3/4 of them right now. Fluorescent lights are a PITA with an 18-foot ceiling.

thanks. i dunno about green drawer liners - i'm not from the castro district, so my sense of fashion my be a little suspect, but green drawer liners might go better with a green or black box than mine.

i'm a pretty simple guy... i like the black as i can see the tools easier and you don't notice if the liners are dirty or scuffed

thanks! yeah, I use the hell out of it, that's why there are no pics of the inner parts yet, lol! After seeing some of the ones in here, my organizational skills leave just a little something to be desired ;) I'll snap a few pics at work tomorrow though.

Scanners? Eh...not really. I'm a Vw master tech...so I don't need any really. We've got 5 in the shop already. I do have VCDS, which is amazing Vw/Audi diag software, and does virtually everything the VW scan tool does. Keep that on my laptop. Then a tiny handheld VAG specific device that does virtually the same thing...and also a PDA that does virtually the same thing...and even some hacked version of our VW scanner which, as you can probably guess, does virtually the same thing.

I used to have a Genesys and a SO MT2500 years ago, but now I only wrench on Vw/Audi, I just don't have a use for anything else.

@Ryan and @shoturtle

I apologize that my post had that reaction...was not my intention , seems I over reacted due to an other thread on that board here.

Keep it clean.

That's what I am thinking but had not seen any.I like the "Burgandy" if you will colour. I am needing liners in all my larger box's (4) and also the C'man top and a Blue Point service cart that I am paying on at my pawn shop. I would like to have a Cornwell or any truck brand that size of yours! I have a lot of electric tools in their case's that are in two 6' stainless cabinets.

piss poor pic, but I've been lurking around here a long time and thought I'd at least attempt to return this thread to the proper topic.

I'd love to add a locker at some point..but it's all paid for right now, and I'm restoring a car...and we all know how cheap that is I'm sure.

 Very nice we need inside pics. Please

Looks like the Cornwell logo with the corner on it just covers the top half. There's a plate for the bottom half that appears to swing down on another set of arms. Just a guess.

I want one of these! That thing looks incredibly useful for tight spaces. What are they called please?

2hv1v.jpg

Your right that thing is AWESOME it has saved me countless times. Its a straight cut off tool made by AirCat. Ordered mine out of one of those tool flyers that the vendors give out but I know snapon has them in their rwd catalog too.

Some pictures of my drawers. I did this about 15 years ago and was one of the best things I can think of today to make life in the shop more enjoyable.

Combo wrenches are simply held in place with plastic racks from Sears. The solid rack section by the box-end holds them snugly in place when the drawer is slammed shut. At the open-end, I cut the rack to the custom lengths you see. Ratcheting wrenches and flare-nuts were placed in custom made plastic racks that look similar to the ones you can buy.

I used the little plastic trays that Christmas lights are supplied in to make these racks for the small wrenches.

I used foam kits (sold by Sears) that you trace around the tools and cut out to hold the ratchet drive tools. I never liked the spring-style socket racks, so I custom made these trays using some PVC fence planks and a Unibit. I bought labels to stick in the spaces next to the sockets about the same time a made them, but for some reason, never stuck them on. About a year or two after I finished them, I finally noticed Sears and others selling the red plastic versions - oh well, I had fun doing it. One of these days, I'm going to get around to buying those 1/2" drive deep metric sockets that belong in that empty space on the right.

I wholeheartedly agree on no regrets for the organization!

Excellent stuff! Love the idea of the black planks and a unibit. Much cheaper than Ernst racks and fully customizable.

zuspiel - Thanks. Yeah, I guess I did get exactly what I wanted by going this route. When making them, I remember being absolutely paranoid about going one step to deep on the Unibit and ruining the entire piece.

Outlawmws - Thanks. The donor rack had the same "forks" on the bottom as those pointing up to hold the wrenches. The bottom ones are sunk down in a slit in the foam to stay put.
