How are you liking that Kobalt 26'' combination? And are those blue socket rails the kobalt ones?

Both my kobalt boxes have held up well. And, on sale, they were cheap. Not very big, though...

The socket holders are Ernst. Love their new twist lock system. I'm in the process of changing them all over.

This is going to be my new box. I am very excited as it is replacing an old CM. It is a used but very good condition Mac Tech 1000. I talked them down to $1300 so for this area I feel is a good price. On to the pics.

I am going to pick it up tomorrow. This weekend will be fun because I am golfing, then swapping stuff from the old to new box.

Cool, Ernst. Wil have to check them out.

I know it's only 26'', but it'd be my first toolbox. I don't have a huge amount of stuff yet and I'm looking around, and just love the stainless look.

Re: More pics...

How's the quality of those IPS pliers? I'm thinking of picking up those and their slip joints.

Well, Knipex it ain't... I mainly got them for their uniqueness. The joint doesn't feel all that sturdy and is a bit floppy...

My blue kobalt is 10 years old and holding up well. I've had the stainless one for five and its also still fine. Steel feels thinner than the blue one, though. If you don't have a plastic (handle) allergy, they are good boxes for the money ;)

My new Matco.... something?

20120501_122851.jpg

Will be cleaning it up and stuffing it full of tools on Saturday. I'm excited for my first real box. My old Stanley didn't count. (Though i DO remember thinking it would last me for a longggggg time. A whole... year ago.)

Technically, it even belongs in this thread. When it's not out on the track it carries a whole bunch of tools... ;) It's British, stuff falls off...

Any ideas how to identify exactly what it is? I was told it was all MB500 series stuff, but every time i search that i come up with more results for "Mac" than "Matco."

There are no KRL 722 anywhere in my area. This from what I have seen was cheap compared to some others. There is a Matco 6s going for $4500 and this is comparable for size, just not drawer layout. I guess the search continues until my wife decides she wants to buy the box for me... with my approval of course. :rocker:

You have to look around... they are out there, just takes time and be willing to travel. I am not really sure where you are located, but the link you sent was in Wichita KS... here is a KRL722 in KC for $2100:

Or a KRA2312 for $1200:

So much for getting this box. I got screwed and they sold it today when I already had a deal with them. Got to love Pawn shops.

A deal today means nothing untill Benjamin has the last word.

Unfortunately. I wouldn't have been mad if they sold it for the asking price, but they sold it for what I was asking. Rubbed me raw that I said I would pick it up today. It's all good though. I am back to the original Snap On box with the tattoo paint. He wanted $2200 firm but I got it down to $1700. I figure that is a great price with cover no?

This is the box I mentioned before where I was told $2200 is a tad high.

It is my first high end box so if he is good on the price I think I will be happy.

Did you put a deposit on it? If you did your chances would have been better.
It was a pawn shop about an hour away. They were closing in about 40 mins when I called so there was no chance for me to drive and pick it up. I guess when you make a deal the money makes a difference when it is now, instead of two hours from now. It is cool though, I think I will be happier with the Snap On. That is if he will take the money.

Just upgraded from a krl722 to this epiq 68, so far I like it but the latches take some getting used to.

Damn that is the box I want. Yours looks great. I have to wait a few years though for them to start hitting craigslist with more frequency and lower prices. :(

I picked up that Classic 78. I am happy with the price and condition. I can peel the sticker off and have a perfectly mint gloss black box. Only some superficial scratches on the back.

Got mostly everything in the new box. What I have found out and just never paid attention is all the duplicate sockets you get with the craftsman mega pack of tools. It has been so long since I put them in my old box I just never thought about 6,8 or 12 point sockets being mixed. Now I have to figure out where I will get the rest of my sockets in 12 point to fill my trays. Anyway here are some pics. I still have a lot of empty drawers so space is not an issue lol .

Now that's a nice little carry kit. I must say I do like.

Thanks! I got the socket set around Christmas time from Home Depot. It's a Husky 185 piece set and was on clearance for like $70. Then I picked up the screw drivers, extensions/adapters and pliers and threw it in a Craftsman box I found for $30. It's very handy, but it's mainly used for when I go to the junkyard.
