Or they figure most kids will turn out to be crazy killers and may as well give them an awesome hammer to do it with :lol_hitti

How do youlike the Homak box? A guy is always selling then new on craigslist and ive never seen anyone with one before.

The Homak is really nice. I upgraded to it from 3 Craftsman friction boxes. Originally, I had intended to switch to the U.S. General boxes, but once I compared the two I felt the construction of the Homak was better. The Homak was a little more expensive than the HF boxes, but I feel it was well worth it. I've got it fully loaded and all the drawers slide very well.

Brought my toolbox home from my old job the other day and realized that the garage was a mess! I had literally not been down there for 6 months... First order of business was to clean the garage. I forgot to take before pictures though.

Before there was about a path wide enough to push a lawn mower down and that was it. I found out that I had a mouse problem.... Soo I solved that and I'm cleaning up the remnants of that ****. Fixing the hole where they came in. I've got to fix the leaky back wall as well, There is a slab on the ground outside that window that I think is causing the issues. I'm gonna seal around that and put a cover on the window trench. Lots more still to clean up, but I got a good start over a two day period. I'd like to be able to get my civic in there one day, got some work that needs done on it. But there is plenty of room in the driveway if I can't.

Had to make room for this, the dresser beside it used to be in it's place. But I wanted it near the door since cars really don't fit in this garage.. less than an inch of clearance for the mirror on a mid size sedan(Taurus).

True.. I've ran out of space for the organization that I like things to have. This draw just kinda works for the things in it.. I plan to buy a HF 44" box soon..

you are wasting allot of space having your tools laying out flat. You can really increase your storage with a plier and wrench racks. And adding a mid case will give you more room for tool growth.

most of the drawers aren't thick enough for plier racks or the tools in the other drawers to be moved to use plier racks. I'm not gonna move the random drawer into the top box because it makes no sense to have stuff I use so often way down in the bottom box. I just figure I'll buy a bigger box soon.

You do not need many deep drawer for the plier rack, the rack holds 32 pliers. And can be simply cut to fit a 26 inch draw, sill giving you 20 on one drawer and 12 in a second drawer. Your lower roller has deep enough drawers.

Not till the third drawer from the bottom which has a hand saw, hack saw, mallet in it. To me it makes no sense to move my pliers and cutters way down there. I'm in those two drawers more than any other drawer in my line of work(mobile electronics installation).:dunno:

I know the top 3 drawers on your bottom roller is deep enough for the plier rack. They are as high as a deep 1/2 socket. They fit into drawers 2.5 inch deep.

WalWalka,

Wrenches in the top drawer, screwdrivers in the second. Pliers racks, one (half each?) on each side in the third and ALL the pliers, cutters etc in there racked laterally, possibly the contents of drawer #3 as well... Leaves you with 1 or possibly 2 drawers empty...

If the wrench racks won't allow the 1" wrenches to fit, make up some coiled wire racks for them and ditch the tall stand racks. (my Wrench racks fit in a drawer less than 2" deep...)

Turn the left side rack 90 degrees and back it to the side of the drawer and as far to the front as possible, slide the right rear rack to the left so they are nearly touching. you will gain about 1/3 of that drawer back, and gain room for a third and possibly a forth rack?

I went down and played with it some this morning, what I found was in the top box I could put a pliers rack in the third drawer and move the panel tools and the screw drivers to the first and second drawer. The fourth drawer could then be my meter, dremel, soldiering iron, and hot glue gun. The heat gun wont fit with the other stuff in the drawer. The wrench drawer, I moved it around some and didn't really gain anymore space I just gained awkward layouts. For the items that I have in the drawer at least:

I may order a pliers rack, but I still want a new tool box. I'd like to be able to put my grinder and other larger longer tools in my box.

I see what is different: the wrench racks. Mine are older sheet metal, and have a little less space between the wrenches, and are narrower, so there is some flexibility for where the wrench is placed in it, allowing me to get then really close:

Better late than never... ;)

Close-ups of the home-made tool holders. I *did* say they weren't very polished, didn't I? They do the job, though...

More pics...

So, I haven't actually posted any non-detail pics for a while...

Here's what the garage looks like at the moment:

Overview.jpg

BTW, it may appear that my garage is huge. It's not. It's just that the cars are tiny... ;)

I've had most of this stuff for years but last year I finally got a Hazet Assistent and then a couple of months ago I picked up a Cman box on sale.

Cman-Hazet.jpg

I recently moved all my metric stuff into those two boxes since it's what I use most these days.

A closer look at the Assistent:

Assistent.jpg

I added a "platform" to the Assistent to hold the most used stuff like 1/4" and 3/8" sockets and my beloved SO shorts:

Assistent-platform.jpg

And some pics of the rest of it:

I really like the fact that 90% of what I need is in the Assistent, which also easily rolls out into the driveway. It can also be collapsed and will then fit in (almost ;) ) any car.

And here's some of the drawers of the new Cman box:

Finally, as a counter point to the organized stuff, here's a drawer that isn't... ;)

Hot damn those are pretty slick! You must have some serious invested time into those.

Nice job!

The holders? Yeah, took a whole weekend for all of them. But by now I've been using them for a few years and I'm sure I've made up the time by not hunting around for stuff...

Thanks!

How are you liking that Kobalt 26'' combination? And are those blue socket rails the kobalt ones?

Is that carbon fiber trim sticker stock with that box or added on. I've never seen a box come with that but it looks cool.
