Brought my road box home to do some side work so figured I would snap some pics.

Nice setup. Do you keep it exposed in the back of your truck at all times or was is just in transport? I didn't think those boxes were weatherproof.

Well it is usually on my box at work unless I am in the field. I do have a cover for it though which helps alot.

Hey all, first post. Here's my setup. Not sure on the exact model. I can put up internal pics of anyone is keen. We don't really get premium tools other than snap on here in Aus. Not as big as a few others here but it's my baby.

what is that rack you have up on the wall with those little red boxes?

That's a good looking box. It's a KRL722 bottom with a KRL791 top. There should be stickers on the back of the boxes that will tell you about it.

I've got the same setup and love it a lot. It's already in this thread somewhere but I'll attach a picture for you. It's a great box. I like mine a lot. Just not my snap on dealer. So I may sell it for a Mac just for the support. Because I've got some messed up slides and my dealer won't get any replacements for me because 1022's are his bread and butter and he wants me to buy one instead.

One can tell those are real working tools, not for tool polishers. That box must be a hefty lift into the truck bed.

Road boxes like that are north of 200 lbs empty. When I was at the dealer, we had lifting brackets to hook to the side handles then used a cherry picker or overhead to move them in and out of the truck/vans.

Yep we have a sling we put under the bottom edges and use the over head cranes to load and unload them

Sorry guys. Yeah there's stickers and you've got the codes right. It's just at work so couldn't check when I posted. That was the only pic I had of it. I'll take some of the drawers soon

Yeah. I understand that haha. It took me almost a year and a half of having mine to be able to remember what it was. Haha. Then someone pointed out the stickers to me. (Mine sits against a wall) so I can't see the stickers without a mirror

Krl7023 just delivered. Nice box and really happy with it. Had to text my dealer though as the speaker didn't show up with it and I'm missing the hardware for the handle

Krl1022 has spring loaded casters the krl722 does not. Just like the box pictured

Didnt say I was right however I was always thinking the krl 1k series were the taller roll cabs and the 700 series were shorter.........EDIT - Im correct about the height if you have a new catalog look on page 25 and 29 there is a single bank with the same wheels and actually they are next to one another.

You might have a talk with Grandpa. It might make him sleep better knowing that his tools are with you. You can always make it VERY clear that they are HIS tools and you are just borrowing them.

Not a bad idea actually. I just feel wrong using them without him being there. It's weird, I can't rely explain it once he was out of town and I needed to do some perk on the grandma's audi. I used his garage and stuff because I didn't need a lift and didn't want to move the car. It felt weird using his tools, thinking about how we always worked tofether.and how he always tought me a lot.

Had a chance to get a couple drawer photos e377703485c7a07c80f3ce2922243cf4.jpgd12a5beb6b1325d0589875bb29144370.jpg 4c477eae77eb3a18894e0e5fa44cc0fb.jpg 8be4e84af2d87ef53530f1831f085dce.jpg 082434654fed48aec2da5d6ca8286d72.jpg 2bea30601537a5621e81e83dfdd91166.jpg d1b123a1e7fe54f6461c2585c665a460.jpg bf2988021997a787a5cbdff340ec5965.jpgb475898463c08cd3b7f6cf114fc7924d.jpg 8642068cd60fc47910876b047102d578.jpg 009ed134204e9692dcd3b64ffdfe67f5.jpg e346ff365dfb301ce07492cd71de2e14.jpg

Merb

Layout wise those boxes look so much like the harbor freight 44" only a different color of course. Which isn't a bad thing at all.

There's plenty more but like everyone, I also need odds and ends drawers. I love electrical work so buy a bit of powerprobe gear. Work mates laugh at me but I don't care. Love the lipo snap on gear but very expensive to upgrade and hard to justify when the old gear works well. The stainless side shelf was made buy a local business. Not that happy with the finish of it but I've always had one and love it. Store guard covers and work light in the bottom of it.

Sorry about the pic size. Not sure how to resize in the app.

The red rack is champion product. It's grab cases of split pins and fuses etc.

.

That's slick, how it is quality and sturdy wise vs the other side shelf offerings? Dimensions? Mind sharing price? I've thought about making a stainless one that will tolerate paint eating fluids. Mine looks like hell from chemicals sitting.

That's a beautiful box. Good luck
Thanks. Wanted one for many years however I do have slight buyers remorse. If I could sell it for what I bought it for I would buy one from strictlytoolboxes with a hutch for much less.

They stopped by the dealership today and dropped this off for me

In 5 years when that box is still going you won't be remorseful

One of the techs at work in an attempt to make me feel better said its the last box I'll ever buy. I agree with him but I still look back and go damn I spent a ton of money on a box.

It was finally time to put my craftsman box in my truck down. Ended up getting a perfomax from Menard's. Box seems OK. I like the drawer arrangement. Two things thou, no dividers in the top kinda *****, will see how stuff rides in the top. Also I don't know if the side handles will actually support the weight lifting in and out of truck. I felt some give just moving it from the tailgate to its spot in the bed. Time will tell if it was a good choice. I knew without putting my kra 62 in my truck, pretty much any other choice would have a limited life span. Here's hoping for 10 years. If a craftsman could do it, I hope this one can.

1190wrench.....do you work for Pierce?
That's a nice box by the way.

No I don't work for Pierce. I am a fire department mechanic working on fire trucks and ambulances. I like Pierce the best and their decal is made by fricknet the same company that makes the snap on custom built for decals. I'm not a fan of decals on tool boxes but I really like Pierce

It was about $350 I think. It's very sturdy and well made. It's more just the welds etc aren't up to my liking but it works great. At the time snap on told me they couldn't sell me a side table so I got this one made. It has a lip like an original one and bolts on the same. I just put double sided tape on it first so it wouldn't scratch the box. It's 570 deep to match the box and 450mm wide.

and I'm missing the hardware for the handle

Do yourself a favor an run the screws through the threads by themselves first with some air tool oil on them before mounting the handle on. If you try to mount the handle on cold turkey, the powder coat in the threads makes it hard to turn the screws. You'll need a 3/16 Allen socket.

The old & new. Craftsman set I bought back in the early 80s, and a Kobalt I just bought. Figure it will take quite a while to get all the stuff over to the new one. First job, build the "short guy's step" for the new one!
