Hey Matt, I've been considering dumping my Ernst rails for this set up in my socket drawer. What'd think it'd run for a 24" x 42" drawer and maybe a hundred pegs of each size?

Thanks, Cam

I'll be honest, the price is stupid. They have a couple of different size boards.

https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/tool-boxes/accessories/trays/?f=p:100-200,50-75

I think you'd need this set:

https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/ORGKIT-425/4225RP-AND-4325RP-ORG-KIT/

That kit is $190 and includes 25 pegs of sae/metric 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2". An extra bag if $25 pegs is reasonable at about $5/bag.

Obviously Matco doesn't make these, but they have propriety rights for the first year from what I understand. I saw online they sell the same setup in Canada through the manufacturer, but that doesn't help US guys much.

I won't say it's better or worse than Ernst rails or Hansen trays. I had a mix of rails and trays and it helped consolidate some things for me. I got the board for a killer deal which is the only reason I did it. A good way to save money on pegs is to use the board but just screw your rails directly to it.

Hope that helps.

I absolutely love that but the price is a deal killer. Any chance you could get the measurements and cnc file? Seems like the perfect item build your own to the exact size of your drawer

I agree about the price. If you look in the link above there are different sized boards and you can cut to fit. I don't do any CNC stuff, but I can take any measurements that you need.

Boepeep, would you be able to post a few more pictures of the Montezuma please? I'm really considering getting one. I'm guessing that the socket pegs are metal? The bottom row of sockets lifts up correct? For more storage. Just want as much info as I can get before I get one. Thanks.

Here's under the socket pegs. I have it pretty empty right now. During the busy times at work when I have it in the back of my service truck I have quite a bit more packed in it.0f6215f3fb7a3d1716fcf08f81503c8b.jpg9065ec813bf90e9fe6c868b5913c154b.jpg

Thanks Matt. A while back when these were first shown they weren't up on their site yet. Yesterday I went surfing and found the sizes and pricing. All in all the price really isn't too bad when you consider how much coin is ******* in a Ernst set. And even though I ordered another couple Ernst rails today just to get free shipping on some other stuff I might jump in with both feet and outfit my main socket drawer with this set up, it's just waaay too slick.

Oh but I do have one other question. Is there anyway of sticking a size label by the peg so it can be seen or would that eat up too much real estate with losing positions? Thanks

I finally sold my two snap on boxes and replaced them with some stationary vidmars - I painted the green one and the blue stacker but the rest are original colors. One of the snappy's was an old slide style box so it is nice to upgrade to ball bearing drawers.... And I can finally fit everything where I want it - here's a shot of my metric wrench drawer.0e665fd5d5a62a37827592eb39cffa03.jpg6c17ddec282d6ecbef2535acf01a9423.jpg29ed2d678e569c9ffe4e5f3d92dcef1f.jpg

There is space in the rows between sockets. But it's very limited, maybe 1/4" or so. And looking from the front, sockets would block the view if you put labels down on the board itself. So I'm going to say no to your question.

The liner in the picture came from stanley. I did also purchase a roll of the nusource liner discussed in some other threads for the other cabinets - the only issue I found with buying the bulk roll is that one end was scrunched up from shipping and I had a hard time cutting it to fit the drawers perfectly.

That's what I kinda figured, but I'm not sure if that would be a deal killer or not

Top/left. I spie me some ever elusive dolphin wrenches. I'll be damned if it was only just this past weekend the 13mm became the perfect box end wrench for one particular assembly. I was stoked to have finally used them for something more than a conversation piece :lol_hitti

I couldn't resist buying them at the price summit sells them for, I wish I could find an SAE set comparably priced. That being said - I haven't used them yet, but I haven't tackled any projects since I bought them.

Yup no doubt, that's exactly why I bought them too.

I have some freezone stuff. It's great for what it is but it'd never cut it trying to piece together a entire drawer

Nothing to complain about.... i have been working on my stuff for 25 years and i am 43.... when my father passes, i will really gain a lot. My father gave me the snapon box, i bought the montezuma to put on top and then bought the 56inch box.... i barely got to point of no debt but the house. I also have no kids and a wife who makes decent money which helps.

Teaser shot. I recently sold my Tech1000 Triple Bank Mac and replaced it with 8 linear feet of Listas that I ordered to spec.

I had 7' already.

I'll update in a few days once I finish labeling and moving into place.

Kickass and congrats! You finally jumped in with both feet eh? :p

So what's the plan. If that's a teaser shot, ya gotta have a plan ;)

Your tall cabinet, are those 42 x 3's ?

Yeah. As expected the process was not terribly smooth either. But I think we've already beat that one to death!

No grand plan. Teaser on account of it's a poor phone pic with half of the eye candy pretty far in the background. Once I get everything shuffled around and into place, I'll remember to take my ipad along to the shop and get some better pics.

Tall cabinet is 36 inside drawers. Mostly 3's there. A 4,5 and 9 mixed in.

Damn, I was gonna ask but figured you might have gone a different route this time. Obviously not :(.

Well at least you finally got them and they are bad to the bone. And damn shame (for me) that tall boy isn't a 42 wide. I'd have begged you to trade two threes for three twos

I guess I'll refrain from posting the hammer drawers. Once I finish setting up the 60" vidmar rolling box that I bought for my dad's garage, and post a picture, it might push you over the edge...

Got my light up today. Still have to figure a way of routing the cord to the outside of the box. Edit. This site is ******* me off no matter how i upload pics it’s rotating them the wrong way. I edit the photo 90 degrees and it’s still flips it the wrong way.

Got my new monster Listas finished up this morning. Including the 2 older ones pictured 1st, I'm up to 4 now. One more on my radar, but I will not order than one new -Looking for Junkyard Special on that one.

bought and sold a couple boxes to get where I'm at. I drove 300 miles and traded a rolling fox body mustang (1200ish bucks) for the last piece of my puzzle... my MR Schmedium is almost done. still need to shim the right box before locking down the end cab that ties them together. I'm pretty happy.. a lot of CL and LEtgo pieces the last 8 months or so have made all this come together, but a lot of legwork to make it affordable. lol

this was my old setup. red box cost me a legit 450 bucks off craigslist. sold it for 1500.

Impressive setup AngryBeaver! I LOVE it. [emoji106]

That's one sick set up AB, very impressive I must say.

Angry Beaver, that KRL setup is impressive.

I always like red in tractors, but the green looks good in boxes.

thanks. I have quite a bit invested in my original 1022/locker and hutch from 8 years ago. I've wanted a bigger box and couldn't justify loosing all that on a trade in and then still having to pay 10K... I think it turned out better than I could have imagine.

Beautiful setup, AB.

I’d sure like to play around with a KTL for a little bit to see if I like it over a KRL. But as a DIY hack, neither seems to be in the cards for me anytime soon.

It’s the exact same box as a krl with one more 4” wide drawer and the deletion for the 2 banks of 2” drawers.

I’m actually going to play around with possibly removing the two banks and making solid full width drawers down the length of the box. Depends on the internal supports I guess.

When they sold the double XXL it was two 1022’s butted together and the one bank had all full length drawers.
