Made these over the winter from a red oak log I milled a while back. Drawer fronts are cherry.

I definitely think there should be "I cut down a tree and this tool chest appeared" thread...
wow...
Thanks for the kind comments on my fabrication.
Usually I am making stuff for customers and getting by with whatever I knock together for myself. I was going to just go plywood but decided I will have these for the rest of my life spend a little more time and make them nice.

Well those are the kind of thing I come to sites like this to see. Congrats on some fantastic work. I wasn't kidding about the thread - would love to hear the story on the wood, the design, how the build went, etc.
I also agree that it would be cool to put your mark on them somehow. In 2261 when the aliens are sifting through the wreckage, one of them will find your tool chest and say "Hey (*$#^@, check this out - some dude in the 21st century was still making awesome stuff by hand!"
New addition; stainless steel 55" unit.

Got it onsale for $490 ($699 CAD); really crazy good value IMO.
Non-sale price is $910 ($1299 CAD).

A little restoration I did one this set over the last month. Nothing special.

I did do a thread in fabrication while making them, a little more detail on the process.

I disagree...
