It was not that bad to do, Quite fun actually.

I used foam puzzle mats from Lowe's and cut them to size, (16"x22.25" for the big drawers, 16"x12.25" for the small drawers.)
Then I covered the backside of the cut mats in masking paper (AKA Sticky Micky's).

Then I simply traced my tools on the paper and cut them out with an X-acto knife using MANY blades. I cut the tools about 1/16" smaller so the tools fit snug.

Total was around $50 and maybe 8 hours of time.

I think you done a fantastic job, if I could get my box to look like that I'd be a happy camper. Prolly will give it a go this summer.

I searched their site for puzzle mat, but only got play mats in 1 x 1 ft sizes. Do you have a part number?

Thanks to GJ I have gotten most of my tools in one area in a somewhat organized fashion. Now that it's 'almost there' I wanted to share.

Here's a view of the back wall.

3-5-11023.jpg

To the right is my old Craftsman box that serves as my welding cart for now, and storage for some duplicate tools.
I made that bench to mount my grinder and drill press on, under it is my fridge and stack of shop rags.
The small Rally box holds a bunch of drill bits and extra 3/8 sockets.
The majority of my tools are in the US General box & small Husky top box, and in my Blue Point service cart out of view.

Top drawer of HF box holds a lot of my larger bulky junk.
There's a Proto 1/2 50lb - 250lb torque wrench in the red case.
A 3/8 Armstrong in/lb torque wrench in the black case, and a bunch of other various junk.

3-5-11002.jpg

Screwdrivers on this row, phillips, nut divers, etc on left, flat blade on right.

3-5-11003.jpg

SAE on left, one full set of Williams and another almost full set of Proto from 1/4" - 15/16", Metric in the right drawer

3-5-11004.jpg

(Not pictured are my Gearwrench sets which are mounted on the wall behind my workbench)

The rest is pretty self explanatory
.

3-5-11007.jpg

3-5-11008.jpg

3-5-11010.jpg

Top drawer in the top box holds 3/8 sockets, I still need to get racks to organize this better.

3-5-11012.jpg

1/2" drive stuff

3-5-11013.jpg

Allen wrenches, hole punches, chisels, punches, etc.

3-5-11014.jpg

Top drawer in the "welding cart" has a bunch of "extra" wrenches. They are mostly Craftsman, Williams, Proto, Matco etc.

3-5-11020.jpg

Here's my service cart that I work out of most of the time.
In the top along the sides are my screwdrivers and pry bars, mostly Snap On or Matco. Pliers in the top left drawer, misc junk in the top left.

3-5-11019.jpg

3/8" sockets and air ratchets. Allen wrenches, blue box is a Cornwell 1/4" set.

3-5-11016.jpg

Bottom drawer, persuasion, Impacts, wrench roll, Chisel roll, Impact sockets, SO breaker bar, big Proto messkin socket set...

My Lista goodness.

The one on the left is new, was supposed to be the same height as the one on the right, but there was a misprint in the advertisement, was quite disappointed when it showed up but beings as it was a pretty good deal, the seller and i worked it out and i decided to keep it. Will probably buy another one thats the same height and move the taller one to the other side of the garage.

The one on the right i scored on craigslist for $ 125.

dwright what kind of springs are those holding the wrenchs up i wish i thought of that
I can't take the credit, I got the idea off of a thread that was posted here not too long ago.

I made mine out of wire uniform hangers. I straightened the hanger out and wound it around a 1/2" extension. The coils do a good job holding the wrenches, and you can tweak each slot to fit each individual wrench. Total investment was $0 & less than an hour of my time.

The roll cab is Made in Canada by SPG International. That company currently makes all of the Craftsman toolboxes in Canada and makes boxes for other companies as well.

The top & bottom are made of 16 gauge metal, 18 gauge drawers, 18 gauge sides, 14 gauge reinforcing plates on the bottom.

The casters are spec'd out for 900 LBs each with grease fittings on each one.

120 LB ball-bearing sliders on each drawer, two sets on drawers more than 2 inches in height.

Total shipping weight was 270 Lbs.

The drawer liners came with the unit - Although there is nothing in it now, I have looked around at all of the organizing ideas put forth for wrenches, pliers, sockets, etc, and will start to attempt to fill up the unit with my tools.

Deafautotech,

I ordered mine through Sears Canada (they had a 20% off deal not too long ago).

I think you can find them online too, but just make sure you confirm that it is made in Canada. A few years ago, International sold units that were made overseas. They have since changed that and make their boxes in Drummondville, Quebec with metal from Hamilton, Ontario.

I called the company and spoke with a few different people who confirmed they are made there.

funny how sears canada gets asian craftsman and nice boxes while its the opposite in the states. Its like they dont want either region to have the best of both worlds.

Actually, the Craftsman boxes in our Sears here are said to be made in Canada (they all have that red sticker). I confirmed through SPG International that they do make them for Sears Canada.

Interesting though about the regional differences though. You figure they would sell products of similar origin regardless of either side of the border.

Canadian Tire used to sell toolboxes made in Canada, if I remember correctly. Now they are all made overseas.

I got mine for $675 off of CL, it was listed for $750. It's black, my boxes are red. It beats yellow, though!

Thanks. I just got it a couple of weeks ago. It's new to me. I'm 6'3" so I wish it was a little bit taller. I've been toying with the idea of "lifting it a couple inches. Anybody got any ideas?

You can always bolt a a piece of square steel tubing between the wheels and the rollers.

cool

You've probably noticed the new ones have changed.

They are pretty much the same cart still. I don't care much for their new recessed pull styles. I like the Blue Point style of mine but, would have liked a full length pull. The finish and color are different on the news ones as well. I think mine was only $49.00 when I bought mine.

So after about 3 weeks of reading all 230 some odd posts in this thread I decided to take a page right out of a couple of your books. Since I'm currently still in tech school and there always seems to be multiple students working on one car at a time. I needed a way to easily distinguish my tools from others. So I went with red tape to match the box. I think it turned out way nicer them expected!

In My Experience: Spray paint is harder to remove. Just dust the wrenches lightly. Maybe neon green or some other bright color.

I have done some small adjustments to my toolbox this week, I started with the remote control unit and its wires and moved them down to the bottom of the box. I did built a electronic box for all the electronic stuff in there. When I did all this I started to think that it would be a very good idea to have 110v power sockets on the roll cabin. So the thing I got left to do is to find out how I should connect the roll cabin to power.

Here are some pics.
