Stop drinking the koolaid.

Heavy is heavy.

I know it sounds weird but honestly they actually slide better when weighted down. When i first started out i didnt have that much in my drawers and they just slid weird. Now? Its just a fingertip pull and it slides all the way out by itself and a finger push in and it slide in all by itself. Much more than that and it 'slams' into the back. Which i hate.

dont read whats on the internet, go test it yourself.
The drawer may be heavy if you pick it straight up, but your not going to need a forklift to push it shut. Snap on isnt the only brand thats drawers seem to slide better when loaded down.

Ill enjoy the rest of my kool aid now

Yess they slide better when weighted down. All ball bearing slides do.

The point was being "Snap On" means **** all on this particular component.

I dont understand what your talking about, its fine if you dont like snap on, but just because i do, doesnt mean i was "drinking the kool aid" or on a snap on bandwagon, i use tools i like the feel of and design.

and im pretty sure i stated that OTHER boxes are the same way. If you have a problem with snap on, dont buy it or call customer service, dont take it dont take it out on me.

not with snap on slides

This statement is phrased to indicate that only snap on slides are able to accomplish the job.

You did later say so do other manufacturers, as did I.

I have no issues with you, or snap on.
What I do have issue with is the rampant fanboyism that exists around here.

I use the brand that gets the job done. Sometimes that is snap on, sometimes it is not.

Thanks, JASTECH & Son

I cannot afford an expensive box with ball bearing slides.

I just tinker at home, but here is the one I bought on sale (craftsman club) several years ago.

This was before I started putting tools in it. :D

That's not a bad box. I had the red version of the top box and I have almost the same bottom box (2 of them actually) under my Husky 52" 8 drawer top box. When the slides are lubed, they slide smooth.

Yes, kind of.. I actually took 2 small square metal brackets and and screwed them to the backs of the cabinets using small sheet metal screws to hold them together. I then used a piece of scrap 1x4 painted black to put under the front and back of the boxes to hold up the top box even. I really didn't want to put bolts through the sides or bend or cut the top lips in case I ever decide to do a different set up. 4 small #8 screw holes in the back side, who's gonna notice:headscrat

I have seen many a tech. work professionally out of a box with friction slides.

Hell I am right now , can't afford to bring in the big boy
a 1985 top box , 1987 mid box and 1969 roller cab

all my "working" boxes are friction slides.
most of my home boxes are friction slides,
i have one set of SO/harley edition boxes that are rollers.
been wrenching on const eq for over 25 years

Thanks for the comments about the friction slides. Makes me feel a little bit better about buying one back then. I have a wal mart (popular mechanics) bottom box that you can barely get the drawers open and shut on (and it has never been overloaded or mistreated). I would replace it, but cannot afford anything else.

^^^^ your old one doesn't look that old. lol.

its not, i bought it little over a year ago, i needed the extra room so rather than buying a side cab my dealer made me a better deal on the the entire box. and i take very good care of my tools, they get worked like hell but im a neat freak so my things seem to stay very clean.

Just picked this up last night. I need to get it cleaned up and grease the slides and it should be a nice box for a while.

Snap On guy dropped off the stainless top at my house this morning. I thought the hard part would be getting it mounted on the box by myself (it's a heavy ******!) but it turns out the hard part was getting the flippin vinyl protective wrap off!
