KLG73 thats a good idea to use your student discounts. you wont regret it. Buy as much stuff now as you can. I wish I had bought more when I was in school.

Nice box btw. I have the same thing in extreme green.

^^^ You shouldn't leave your respirator out like that it will go bad quick, need more welding clamps. Off to a good start though.

The charcoal canister part of the respirator that goes bad is in a zip lock bag so it isnt exposed to the air to help prevent it from going bad. And the prefilters can get clogged up to but they usually last longer then the charcoal canisters, and you get two pairs with each mask. but i have used this mask a lot so i do plan on getting a new one before i spray again.

That zip lock is not enough to keep the cartridges from going bad, toss 'em out. Any moisture at all will quickly neutralize the organics and in a bag like that they are bad after about 48 hours. All that's left is large particle filtering

I hope you haven't been painting with the same ones either. They aren't supposed to last more than a couple paint jobs. If you are painting in a good booth you might get one whole day of painting, but that is about it

I was just saying the zip lock would help prevent it, our instructor gave us the bags. And i have just done some primer jobs here and there. I know a new set is recommended to be used every time. Also do you have a better method of storing them overnight?

Found out they had to drill the lock because it was full of tools and the key was lost. Drilled a tad bit deep and the bit walked across the metal, but not too deep. The slides slide GREAT, not bad for 60 something years. Have not taken the drawers out yet to confirm model, still think its a KR-61. Overall, pretty good condition, a bit of worn paint at the hinge areas and on the bottom, minimal surface rust.

Did I mention it was HEAVY?

The price? $130. :)

Now I just need to find a new lock and install it, where should I go about this? SO's website?

Brendan, check the classifieds here, as Snap-on doesn't offer the shallow locks anymore. I got one for a mid 70ies drop front from another member that had some old new stock.

:rocker:

What kind of rack are you using for your larger wrenches? Haven't seen anything around here yet that will hold mine.

Look like snappys' wrench rails to me. I use the same thing, but mine came from mac. I had up to 1 1/8 in mine until i moved to a shallower drawer.

They are snap-ons Wrench Organizers, Part number is KRA15A. They are for smaller wrenches but they seem to hold the larger ones ok, except my 1-1/2 wrench doesnt really fit but the wrenches in front of the 1-1/2 wrench and the back of the drawer keep it in place.

Snap on also has one for larger wrenches which is part number KRA22A

ok here is my box.. about 3 years old now and still has all the plastic protectors on!! i went with the husky pro ball bearing because it was cheap think i paid 450ish for the top and bottom.. its ok but i am just waiting to find a decent snap on box to replace this.. my major complaint is the drawers are not deep enough.. i feel like its as organized as i can get it but theres just so much wasted space in the box.. maybe more shorter drawers than so many tall ones?? idk but def looking around.. it has served me well.. i worked in a shop for a year and then 2 years of home use with it.. still rolls and nothing has ever broke on it.. here are a ton of pics!!!

Trdtaco...Couple Questions for you.

1st what are the things in the gray tray in ratchet drawer. Pic is fuzzy to me so can't get detail.

2nd What are the funky ViceGrips in hammer drawer for? Can't say I have seen that design before.

Thanks

Got my new box in about two weeks ago. My snap on dealer wanted to sell me the 1000.00 ss top. I couldn't see it happening so I though hmm, I can make my own. So I did, total spent about 110.00. Its 18g stainless 3/4 break, welded seams and a 3/8 oak ply underneath. Came out perfect. My rep will be here tomarrow so I wonder what hes going to say. lol, let me know what you all think.

Here's a crappy cell phone pic of mine...i consider it my poor man's double box. I originally had the bottom roller, two intermediate's(one on another shelf) and of course the top. Then picked up the two side cabinets off kijiji, then wanted to use both intermediates on the same box......so this is what i came up with.

I couldn't do that out here on the left coast; a good earthquake would throw the top box to the ground...

Pics of new cart and its contents, go easy i know it isn't very organized right now. Better organization is next, cart is awesome though. Stainless steel top is great. Have to use a cart at the dealership i am at now move from job to job usually. Main box is krl 722 and holds diagnostic items, large tools, specialty tools, and info sources. Any questions just ask.

Here is my junk... From the end is a Lista with random car parts, then a few snap-ons from here and there. The silver one is all tools, starting to get pretty full. The red one is a recent craigslist purchase, it's going to get filled with "project" stuff, plumbing, elect, etc...

Once the car is finally together, I can organize a little more. Stuff is pretty scattered right now.

Figured I'd give some new pics. Got myself a blue Montezuma box last December.
Awesome box. Shannon was great to deal with. Called when it was on the way, and for any new information that arose. Couldn't be anymore happier. Stood in a drawer no problem. Funny story behind it getting to the shop. Fed-ex guy almost dropped it off the liftgate, then I had to get it off the pallet myself. I got ahead of myself and loaded it up at home. Me and a guy from work pushed it up the road from my house to the shop, Uphill. Now I busted my *** to get this box, I'm only 15 years old. Worked full time last summer. Enough of the yap, on with the pics.

Along with my post above, this is my home box(es). Everything is mine, and does get used from time to time, hence why its taking up space in my box. I'm the kid that everyone brings their **** to to fix before their parents see it haha. Been taught right by all the old timers. Lots of time dedicated is shown in this box. Hard work pays off. If this is what about 3 years show now, I can't imagine what 40 years from now will show:shocking:

Complete socket sets and wrenches are hung up on the wall
